What are you backing Today? Part 2

I'm hoping my day can get off to a flyer in the 1.50 at Newbury where I've backed The Four Sixes.

A former Gordon Elliot inmate, he did enough over hurdles last season to think that reverting to the smaller obstacles now is the right thing to do. I think he's the dark horse in the field.
A poorly judged ride IMO using up far too much energy on the first circuit

Yes I see Matt Brocklebank tipped the winner on the Sporting Life. Well done him. I hope he's right about Smarty Wild later on. Incidently Matt has also put up DO's fancy King William Rufus later in the big one.

I don't think mine would have won however he was ridden given he was eventually pulled up.

But I take your point.

As always, onwards and upwards, lol.

I thought it was the kind of ride the stewards should at least question. Going off too fast in front is every bit as effective a way of riding a non-trier as lobbing around out the back giving a few airshots with the whip.

If Royale Margaux had been brought down there by You Wear It Well after the last I think I'd be considering packing this game in. Thankfully she avoided her.

A good winner for Tom Symonds.

Sorry, probably one for the aftertiming thread.

Hunter Legend 2.48 Uttox

Got 7/2 last night.
Will appreciate 3m and has looked very smart the last twice.
I just feel like giving the game up, me.

How can that horse have run so, so badly? Just wasn't travelling from the word go. It's the same with simply everything I back - just crap performances all round. No point.

I've only done one other today: Toss Of A coin 4.10 Newb. You watch it bomb out.

No complaints. It was a god run for what was effectively Rubaud's first chase and a few tidier jumps would probably have got him home in front.
Wrong ground today: soft but he'll improve on better ground, for sure. 7 of his 8 wins were on R/h tracks, I see.

Did well for a horse that didn't like the ground, then. Lost five lengths where those three fences come in quick succession and was beaten one. That's racing and I'd be confident he'll turn round the form with L'EDS in time.

Navan 2.40 - I've taken 8/1 3 places Minella Indo. It's his first run over hurdles for 5 years but he was a Grade 1 hurdler then (rated 152), went on to win a Gold Cup, for which he went up to 175, and ran well in last year's National off a declining mark.

I don't know if the National is the aim this year but he's 2lbs lower and this run won't affect that mark but the highest rated hurdler in this field is 149. Whether he can still run to 152 over hurdles I don't know and whether this shorter trip will suit I don't know either but I'm willing to take a chance.
