What are you backing Today? Part 2

That's interesting but I can't see it being introduced in the UK. Our traditional pubs have nearly all gone, replaced with foody pubs, not really interested in serving beer, let alone taking bets!
Yeah, the missus was telling me that, after her last visit back there a few months ago. Can't see it changing much in Australia anytime soon. It would be akin to bulldozing churches in Italy. Beer and gambling is far too sacred here.

I dithered around for too long, pondering if I should back Grand Karat in the 7:15 at Windsor. Figured 8/1 was value, despite me still thinking it a risky win bet. Halved in price now, so that put an end to that.
The other from my notes was Kamekist in the Wolves 7:30. Good jockey booking with Bishop off to Ffos Las for three rides. Feel I'd be hoping for a place more than anything, despite me thinking it's still slightly progressing (write off Chepstow), just likely to be a touch outclassed in this. Had it been a class 5, I'd have defo been on EW. Fav looks to have too much potential improvement.

Have three entered for tomorrow, so will move onto those. Probably be face palming myself int he morning when checking tonights results. Par for the course.

I've had the following

6 x EW Trebles

6.00 Wolverhampton
Cloudbuster ....... 4/1

x

6.30 Wolverhsmpton
Inclusive ..... 11/1
Booziebrunch 14/1
Luzon Heights .... 20/1

x

7.30 Wolverhampton
Stanley Spencer ... 11/2
Bosh ..... 13/2

Chasing a bit of Place Money - anything better would be a bonus.

It's just the one today:

Zoulu Chief - Windsor 7.15 14/1 Ew

Naturally, only the seven runners but I've had my eye on this colt recently. Last time out he raced over an inadequate 5f and really never looked like winning but back to the C/D of one of his previous wins, two Lbs below his LWR (6f g/f cl 2) and the first-time blinkers are enough to tempt me in.

🤞

I unfortunately backed this last night at 10/1.
I wouldn't think the top 2 will want to spoil their hcap mark for this prize money.
I was going to do grand carat but did zoulu chief instead.

Also like fire eyes 500p but it's only 5 /2 so I will leave it.

One winner and another nearly.

I was absolutely pissed to see Aidan Farragher get beat on Novelista earlier. He went way too soon, probably a whole furlong too soon, and fittingly, its cost me a packet on a rollover. The horse had never raced beyond 1M4F, so today over 1M6F he goes for home 2 and a bit furlongs out. Smartest jockey on the day won. Pocket talk ,admittedly. I'm not normally one for pocket talking.
Novelista entered in the handicap at Haydock on Saturday over a slightly shorter trip, and hopefully a more patient ride. He travelled into it like a decent horse last time.

The only thing I can find to back at Stratford is the favourite in the 8.18. Theonlywayiswessex 13/8

May be wiser for others to lay this one as I didn't pick up a dime over the 2 NH cards on Sunday and lost half a dozen balls way right of the fairway 😐

Random Tuesday and I've got four trackers out. They are:

Castle Stuart 3.00 M - should appreciate step up in trip, top trainer.
Lou Lou's Gift 8.00 C - also on this filly at big prices for the Bunbury Cup. She should go well but the Fav is a group 2/3 type. EW only
Bamburgh 9.00 C - another who should improve for this step up in distance.
Park the Giant 7.23 T - should be fav for this novice chase.

Three small stake bets. I can't even call them bets really. Had a 110 quid sat in an account, so spread that around on them.

MUSS 4:30 YAASER 10/3 WIN
Wasted quite a bit of ground crossing right across course early at Newmarket, then back to centre. Race looks solid.

CHEL 7:30 ROYAL PLEASURE 17/2 EW
Despise the thing. Noted when cruising and big enquiry report last year. Have backed it a few times since, best for new yard/owner when Crowley booked at Lingfield. STD-SLW at Chelmsford should suit. More headgear than I could carry. Had to have a small EW dabble, more for prosperity than anything else.

CHEL 9:00 BAMBURGH 3/1 WIN
Quite a knee action, would love to see it run of SFT, but hopefully Chlemsford is deep enough and can stay on well enough.

Anzac Day 8.30 Chelmsford

Ran a lovely race last time and was noted so it’s my only bet today.

I tell you what, though, it’s a very competitive event for the grade.

If I was having a tricast it would involve
Anzac Day
Trouville
Vino Vitrix

Anyone else fancy putting up their three?

HODLER or MARLAY PARK?
Marlay Park looks a nice EW bet if the rain stays away. Looks nicely weighted if going stays GD - GDFM.

If the potential thunder showers happen during the day, then that could certainly swing things in Hodlers favour, dependng on the amount of rain they get. GDSFT - SFThvy would be ideal. Would be reluctant to bet if just on the slow side of good.
Noted Hodler last time at Salisbury, started slowly, stayed on into well beaten 3rd, on ground it wouldn't have enjoyed at all. Has attracted a little early support 7's into 11/2.
Marlay Park has drifted 7's out to 10's / 11's.

Will sleep on it and check the weather forecast later tomorrow.

On two from the Worcester card tomorrow.

4.15 Allowing an off day lto when 7/4 favourite Regal And Royal could return here first past the post. He only found Luminaries too good at Newcastle who has since gone on to win in better company. 9/2 looks generous.

4.50 A horse that looks to be going backwards offers a decent price (15/2) as is the case with Play Pretend. I'm willing to give him another chance based on the yards record at Worcester. Having been lightly raced since December I'm hoping he's tuned up for this one.

Two lovely winners and a placed: sharp - shooting.;)
Mr Hampstead is interesting going forward I think after that. Battled well off top weight giving the second horse who looks a solid yardstick a fair amount of weight. He holds an entry in a 1M6F handicap at Newmarket in 10 days or so. I wonder if he'll carry a penalty for that now or how the new mark will affect his weight, (I'm always poor at knowing this type of thing, I'm just too easily confused).
