What are you backing Today? Part 2

Mr Hampstead is interesting going forward I think after that. Battled well off top weight giving the second horse who looks a solid yardstick a fair amount of weight. He holds an entry in a 1M6F handicap at Newmarket in 10 days or so. I wonder if he'll carry a penalty for that now or how the new mark will affect his weight, (I'm always poor at knowing this type of thing, I'm just too easily confused).
6lb penalty. Looks a very tough race. Conditions as follows:

RACE CONDITIONS £100,000 guaranteed For 4yo+ CONFIRM JULY 5TH Weights highest weight not less than 9st 12lb NOTE: Any horse rated above 110 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 110 in any rating shall be allotted to that horse without limitation to the highest weight to be carried. Minimum weights: 8-2; Penalties after June 21st, each race won 6lb French Master's Handicap Mark 108 pay £150 Penalty value 1st £51,540.00 2nd £24,170.00 3rd £12,090.00 4th £6,040.00 5th £3,020.00 6th £1,510.00

EPSOM 9:00 MARLAY PARK 11/2
The morning showers didn't do much (at least I don't think they did) and looks set to be a warm and sunny day, righ through until the race. Is well weighted now at a course it loves. Yard in great form.
Had a saver on stablemate Hodler, as did run OK LTO on ground way too fast for it. Has a love of course, is in notebook, so yeah, stakes saved if Hodler goes in, but main bet on Marlay Park.

Thought about Pals Battalion (also in notebook) in the Thirsk 5:13, but Easy Peeler looks too progressive. I just don't feel comformtable with the bet.

Anzac Day 8.30 Chelmsford

Ran a lovely race last time and was noted so it’s my only bet today.

I tell you what, though, it’s a very competitive event for the grade.

If I was having a tricast it would involve
Anzac Day
Trouville
Vino Vitrix

Anyone else fancy putting up their three?
According to the BHA:

"The performance of ANZAC DAY (IRE), which started second favourite, and finished seventh of ten runners, beaten by 24 lengths, was considered. Andrew Balding’s explanation that the gelding did not face the kick back on this occasion, was noted. The Veterinary Officer examined ANZAC DAY (IRE), during routine testing, and had nothing to report."

So, back to turf and still worth keeping an eye on, imo.

Thursdays Child running in the last at Kempton is in my notebook since last years run at Carlisle. I made up my mind not to bother when it was 10's earlier. Happy to wait for a stiff 6F on GDSFT - SFT with a fast early (pace collapse). Subject of a big gamble today. I get that it's dropping into class 5, plus jockey booking, but I really don't get it.
Doub't there'll be much pace in tonights race and it doesn't have a turn of foot to speak of. Maybe it'll run into a place and the gamble is an EW snowball? Intersting to watch, hope it's beaten 5L+ and can stay in notebook.

DONC 5:10 ROUNDHAY PARK 16/1 EW
10yo. Now on a career low of 61. Looked to run a good race at Haydcok a few runs back, so may not be finished yet. Well drawn. Ground not ideal, but not an impossibilty to overcome. Jockey has good relationship with horse.

HAYD 8:25 SOLDIERS STAR 17/2 EW
Only 3yo in race, first time visor. Ran a good race over CD two runs back, where it crossed over from wide draw to lead at strong pace. Got peseterd by Kamekist. They got a breather in around hlfway, then kicked on in straight. Soldiers Star ran a better race than Kamekist. The pair got swamped by closers late. There's some form lines through that race, which give the form a sturdy look. Happy to ignore Newmarket run LTO, as course may not have suited. The Haydock run suggests it is still progressing and has been dropped 1lb since.
