What are you watching

Kin was recommended to Mrs O and me by one of the extended family.

I'm the contrary type who tends to be put off by recommendations, to be honest.

While I was up to my ears in the form for Cheltenham Mrs O watched an episode and a half of Kin on that recommendation. She gave up and said I definitely wouldn't have liked it, partly because it wasn't great anyway _ she's difficult to please as far as TV/films go but I'm 20 times worse - but because of the bad language.

I'm not a prude (I don't think) and can swear with the best of them but I really do dislike swearing in films and on TV, especially if it's entirely gratuitous.

So I can't see me giving Kin an airing. I even gave up on Derry Girls after a while.

The swearing is definitely excessive. It's a big difference to my other show at the moment - going through Suits. Just finished the second season. Love it.

I actually went to see Dune 2 at the cinema last week and had to leave 15 minutes in as my Catheter was giving me issues, kept getting spasms. Turns out my body was rejecting it (partly because I wasn't drinking enough water) and I ended up having to visit A&E for a new one the following day. Good times.

Euro, I'll PM you at some point re catheter issues. I'm being monitored at the moment.

One film I forgot to mention recently is The Outfit with Mark Rylance in the lead role.

I'd have to say the gangster characters weren't entirely convincing but from a technical point of view it's quite riveting. If you watch it you'll know what I'm getting at.

3 Body Problem new on netflix, watched the first season in two days...it's absolutely nuts but entertaining if you like sci fi..

Scoop -the story of the Prince Andrew newsnight interview.Watched it with the wife last night -good solid Saturday night viewing.

I had the misfortune to watch Barbie at the weekend - vacuous nonsense, followed by lecture, followed by vacuous nonsense and then another lecture. What a pile of old shite!

Fortunately, then watched Obsession - a 1949 thriller with Robert Newton. Excellent wee piece.

I watched it around the same time I watched Oppenheimer. I think I got as far as 5 minutes into Barbie before I decided to go & watch the kettle boiling.

Finally caught Dune 2. Loved it. Fantastic photography, great characters. Only quibble was the tired casting of Christopher Walken as the Emperor but it's a minor one.

Load in Paradise - both seasons now available on ITV X - great fun, easy watch, seeing teams compete for a gold card and spend bucket loads on food and drink, across the Greek Islands.

Race Across the World on iPlayer is also a good bit of travel porn.

Apart from these two series of late and the odd film thrown in for good measure, mainly Youtube channels for me

Race Across the World I love but more because I want to do it! I met one of the competitors of the second series on a flight just before she did the filming. I said the most important thing was to not slag off the other competitors on camera as it’s not nice to watch and you’ll be judged for that. She didn’t and although she didn’t win, she came across as a lovely girl.
I have got as far as the application form but who to go with? The two people who would be the most fun in my life, neither has a UK passport so aren’t eligible. Both would make great TV and both have “stories” which would make it interesting.

I've only just finished the first series. My wife is way ahead, she is of the view the second series is the best one yet. South America!!! I've seen Bald & Bankrupt traverse the Darien Gap, I bet they give that a swerve!!! LOL

Yes the second series was very much the best. I didn’t enjoy the third one round Canada as it was boring...all the scenery was very samey and none of them got eaten by a bear which was a shame! I gave the Sleb version a miss as I was annoyed that they got a go when it should have been ordinary people...like me!

Glued to it! It’s repeated next Saturday and I’ll rewatch it ( can’t record Sky Arts). The only single I ever bought was See Emily Play. I didn’t have a record player so used to walk to my boyfriends, shut myself in his room ( leaving him downstairs with his mum) play it over and over again, then go home. I’ll never forget seeing Pink Floyd late one night on a tv programme; I’d never seen anything like them!

Glued to that from start to finish. We all know his story and how he was so importand to the band, but really interesting extra memories from his bandmates and his ex girlfriend etc. I like to think that Syd was happy in life after walking back to Cambridge to live a 'normal' life "Syd doesn't live here anymore" Indeed.

I hadn’t realised that he’d carried on living in London for many years after he left Pink Floyd. I’d thought his walk back to Cambridge had happened much earlier. Always planned to visit his grave to pay homage. There are two occasions where people who knew my daughter asked her if her mum was ok; when Dessie died and when Syd died. I have all the newspapers from those events. Painful listening to all of his girlfriends: I wanted him to be all mine. I was so jealous when I read an article years ago about the girl he wrote See Emily Play for. I never really liked Pink Floyd after Syd left apart from their lesser known album Atom Heart Mother which I love. Might play it now.

Was interesting that Roger Waters admitted that they'd never have been anything without Syd - and David Gilmour to be regretful that they never just went to his house and knocked on the door to say hello. Too late now guys.
