I had a real result last night. I was in Superquinn and decided to get a couple of bottles of wine, as you would. Now, I had the little zapper thing that you can check yourself out with and I scanned a bottle of Cote du Rhone which was supposed to be €7.99 but it came up as €9.26. I'm not one usually affected by marketing ploys, but I do like the fat little bottle this particular wine comes in (Celliers?), so instead of getting another brand I told the person who was in charge of the area of the discrepency and he told me he'd write up a docket for a discount on the two bottles - fair enough says I. Scanned in the second bottle and it was the correct amount €7.99, so I told him just to give me just the discount on 1 bottle. "No", he said, "I agreed to give you it on the two bottles" and he gave me a docket, not for the €1.27 I was being overcharged, but for €17.26 - both bottles free.

I had the first bottle last night watching Desperate Housewives - very enjoyable it was too

Bugger - I spent so much time trying to sort out my PC problems last night, completely forget this was on - is is repeated again this week or can you tell me what happened last night (that's if the wine hadn't taken too much of an effect!).

jinnyj, it's OK - on tonight on Channel 4. It's one of those programmes where an capall can blackmail us by threatening to tell us what happened unless...

Just realised that! Now at least I can get my weekly fill of John the Gardeners pecs while my other half is drooling at Gabrielle.

Saved money maybe but what about your liver ? 3 litres of Lambrini must be £9 - could have a couple of decent bottles and less liver problems from Oddbins
I'm sorry but that's just so wrong. Tesco sell 1.5 litres of Lambrini for £1.98 thus making 3 litres cost a mere £3.96 :P

:o big spender then Griffin???????? :D
With three kids, three dogs and ten cats I can't afford to drink!

I am horrified by the price of Lambrini - considering the cost of bottles , taxes and duties the " wine " must cost about 5p .

Can you imagine what that must be doing to your insides jeez .

I can recommend a delicious young South African red from Somerfield at £6.99 by the way Porcupine Ridge Syrah 2004 Western Cape

Ive always wanted to get into wine, and have bought many many bottles only for me to pour it down the sink and crack open a can.

I see I am still the butt of gratuitously unkind remarks.

Fine with me! Just chuck anything you don't like along to old guzzle-bucket here! It'll be coming out for James and Paul - and any other unsuspecting forumite - when they visit! :D :D
