York Ebor Meeting

Bloody hell. Anyone have Cruff Turn?

I've been looking again at the Ebor, starting to think my anti post fancy Global Storm might be a bit too high in the handicap.

The Irish horse Shanroe is interesting, as is Quickthorn, who maybe needs forgiving for the last day?

Lovely performance from Snowfall. Did look to run the last 1.5f a bit feelingly. Hope was only a trick of the eye. Would like to see her on a bit of give from now on.

Arecibo (Nunthorpe) ran a pb for Robert Cowell in the King's Stand, and the way he travelled there suggests this sharper 5f shouldn't be an issue. Maybe drawn away from the pace a little, but Jamie should accomodate it.
20/1 B365

No excuses for Stradivarius today if he gets beat that's him done i think

The 5/4 is tempting though, Trueshan getting scratched and the R4 is putting me off taking the price

Moss Gill is overpriced in the Nunthorpe im on E.W 4places, his York form figures are 22113

The Nunthorpe has a great betting shape to it with extra places a very dodgy looking fav or joint fav in the American horse and guaranteed pace. Winter Power is rapid will lead or at least contend for that position and will trade much shorter IR than the 7+ she currently is. I've lumped on and will have IR lays in at sub 4 for half my stake.

No other bets today.

i am thinking on similar lines, Euro. However I'm swithering as Winter Power prefers give in the ground so probably small stakes.

A shame about the withdrawal of Trueshan as with the five runners I thought Stratum was worth going for each way.

He's far from a mug.

Even with the four runners he's still currently twice the price he should be, IMHO.

Frankie Dettori with the body language of Stradivarius being retired. Not at all jubilant. Ignoring Oli Bell to take him before the grandstand. Good win and not a bad way to go out, if so.

Come on people, what wins the Ebor?

We've got a vote or two for Tribal Craft.

I've got it between Global Storm and Quickthorn, at current prices I might chance Quickthorn each way.

The Melrose looks hot as hell.

Maybe Ravenscraig Castle with a featherweight for the Scottish and Iain Jardine?

Too much of a faff to put up my ratings but here's my synopsis from earlier today:

I’ve intended all season to back Fujaira Prince (14/1) if he went for a repeat win in this race and the ratings don’t exactly put me off. Obviously I’ll be backing a few and hoping for a bit of value along the way but there are lots of worthy candidates. I backed Tribal Craft (11/1) ante-post at longer odds, following forumite Tout Seul’s enthusiasm for her, and she is undeniably in with a shout, officially 4lbs well in. I also took Mirann (12/1) at 20/1 during the week. He was a proper eyecatcher at the royal meeting. Those would be my ‘big three’ against the field.

Hamish (8/1, blue) has to be a huge danger to everything. He hacked up in the Melrose two years ago before running Trueshan close and on his only run last season was a very good fourth in the Hardwicke. He’s either been very hard to train or they’ve decided simply not to mess about with him and aim straight for this. I reckon Haggas can be trusted to have him primed and with Marquand opting for him over the trainer’s other three runners he must have a serious shout. He might want softer ground and his price might be a bit thin for a race like this but I’m loath to oppose him.I’ll probably put enough on him to cover the other bets.

The market will probably contract a bit through the day if Live Your Dream (7/1f) doesn’t make the cut so I plan to hold off with any more bets until it settles down again. The chances are some of the shorter prices will go out slightly by the morning.

If Sextant (66/1) makes the cut I can see me having a nibble. The ex-Stoute horse has shown glimpses of the old ability for shrewdie Dalgleish, while, at the time of writing, Max Vega at 33-40s looks a fair outsider too, being also lightly raced for a shrewd operator.

Been out most of the day and only just caught up with the replays.

Had a saver on SC in the opener but another awful ride by Moore on the Frankel horse. That said, there wasn't much money for it and maybe they just have another race in mind.

Winter Power was a brilliant winner and I'm pleased for the several forumites who were on. It looked to me like Suesa lost the race in the opening furlong, being too slowly into stride.

Fantastic rally close home by Stradivarius. I wanted him to win but had convinced myself he was over the hill. I wouldn't be displeased if they retired him on this fine winning note.

I hope Marsabit or one of my outsiders can do me a turn in the last race.

I've noticed some weird market moves this week. When I alighted on Marsabit last night it was 10/1. I waited until this morning for the BOG but was shocked to see it at 33/1 leading up to the off.

Same with Restorer earlier in the day. 16/1 yesterday evening, out to 50/1 today and not really ridden to be competitive.

Marsabit at least looked as if it was trying, involved in a three-way photo for fourth place.

Hopefully the thunderstorm isn't as bad as anticipated tomorrow.

York and Sandown set to be affected.

I'll stick with Quickthorn but no surprise if a few of the others ran well, especially the consistent Global Storm.

How many times have I asked myself if Quickthorn can be forgiven for his last run!! A lot!! I don't know.

A fair each way price anyway.

Enable money ticket for him gone, Stradivarius another money ticket for him.....

What an absolutely fabulous race, both front two giving everything. Reminded me a lot of dear old Persian Punch.

Fancy quite a few tomorrow.

My Oberon in the opener. I accept Real World might be very classy but evens - 9/2 that horse and the selection is too big a price diff'. The second let Real World's form down in France and any rain would not be ideal for him

Space Blues is in the ante-post book at 5s. Should be easy.

Aerion Power in the 4.45 - he was badly drawn last time out at Goodwood and was asked to cover more ground than his opposition. Progressive horse

Showalong in the last. On the tracker since May I think. He was outpaced last time at Goodwood and badly drawn the time before that at Ascot. He's come down a couple of pounds and his trainer/course form is a nice positive.

Hope you didn’t put your Winter Power lay bets on, Euro. Unfortunately I halved my stake (tho a better price than expected).
I need the rain to arrive for Tribal Craft to perform to her best tomorrow.
