Even Brian thinking is not possible to answer.

Mine is Crounching Tiger Hidden Dragon

2 especial mentions to :
Blade Runner
Doctor Zhivago

I have a list of over 100, which would include in alphabetical order, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Godfathers I and II, Once Upon A Time In America, Raging Bull, Some Like It Hot...

No Cary Grant and Irene Dunne - very funny but my favourite film for sentimental reasons really

I could probably list 1000 films of equally top-notch entertainment.

Picking one above all else is something I cannot and refuse to do.

I suppose people like films for different reasons.

I am not sure what my reasons are, but I would put Rocky alongside the likes of The Wizard Of Oz, both of which are cinematic masterpieces for very different reasons.

Those two films listed is just to show the versatility of my list.

The best film I have seen recently was one that I had seen before - La Haine. Sorry to sound like an arthouse ponce but it is a magnificent and visceral piece of film making.

Brian, I do go on about the classes I teach but really, most of them don't know they are born and wouldn't last 2 minutes in inner city Paris districts where the kids really do know how to take care of themselves. They suffer from big fish small pond syndrome, when you put them in an unfamiliar situation, they become as quiet as lambs - the subway in Berlin was a good example from last year!!

La Haine is one of those films you have to be psyched up to see like the equally brilliant City of God

I have that in a pile of to watch DVDs when I have the time and the inclination. I am looking forward to it.
