Winning pointer who made it 3-3 over hurdles when taking a listed event at Perth in April. Upsides the eventual winner when unseating 3 out on recent return/chase debut at Carlisle and subsequently landed a 4-runner Aintree handicap (25f, heavy). Unexposed and well worth his place in this grade.

I've backed Gio tomorrow mainly as a fade on the pumpkin' fav who is a total boat. Small bet only, doubled him with Dalamoi who runs in the Welsh Nash trial.

Low-mileage 7-y-o who displayed fairly useful form over hurdles last term and improved to make a winning return/handicap chase debut at Chepstow (19.5f) in October, seeing off a resilient rival (pair clear). Underfoot conditions fine and big player with more to come.starstarstarstarstar

. 3rd/6 7/4f - The King Of Ryhope won off 7lb lower at Chepstow on his return last month. He moved up going well leaving the back straight, but just couldn't cope with this deeper surface when things got serious. He reportedly lost a shoe.RP

Scored readily over hurdles at Wetherby (2m) before posting a vety good fourth of 16 in Sandown handicap in March. More to come from him now going chasing. Player. starstarstarstarstar

Couple from last week, both at Chepstow. Dalamoi has been on my tracker for over a year and I actually preferred him over Datsalrightgino and Panic Attack when I had tracker alerts for all three in the handicap chase at Trials day last season when DARG was second behind Stage Star. He was supported fto in the Welsh Nash trial and travelled as well as anything before blowing up. He clearly needed the race.

Over the same course and distance Hurricane Highway off top weight in the novices handicap travelled and jumped like easily the best horse in the race and coming to the straight I was like how does this horse not win this but he landed really badly at the fourth last and sort of sprawled on all four limbs. That cost him 8+ lengths and he did well to pull some of that back. Evan Williams had him in the Silver Bowl at Exeter against Stay Away Fay so he's held in some regard and he did unseat there so he has mistakes in him. Well treated off 125 though imo.

The King of Ryhope was abysmal. Skelton is the Mark Johnston of the jumps - numbers, unreliable, can't have.

Utter rubbish. The King Of Ryhope hated the ground which was worse than a bog, and didn't act on it at all. He also lost a shoe early on. He was allowed to coast home without the race leaving a mark on him, jumping the last big and bold with his ears pricked. Looking after a horse that patently didn't enjoy it is hardly a reason to take a swipe at Skelton.

Lastvof 5 7/2 - Amrons Sage couldn't back up his promising chasing debut, unable to lead and lacking fluency with his jumping. He dropped away tamely but it's much too soon to write him off as a chaser.

WON 3/1 - ETALON, fourth in the EBF Final at Sandown when last seen in March, made an encouraging start to his chase career, hard to believe this was his first experience of fences the way he jumped. I'm on Amrons Sage but it looks competitive for all it's a small field. Fear the Pumpkin.

In the Air is a big old price. I might have some on each way but not confident after his poor show last time.

I'm up early in the morning so haven't a lot of time for detailed reasoning but I have a couple for the notebook from last weeks racing:

Cerendipity He beat a tracker of mine (Jipcot) the time before his run at Donny on Saturday and I wasn't afraid of him as I felt he needed to go right handed. He did the same again on Town Moor but wasn't beaten that far in what looked a decent race.

Heros
Venetia 6yo who really impressed me at Taunton. He led and if anything was asked for his final effort a tad early. Progressive.

Lets go Champ
Runner up to Embassy Gardens at Punchestown last Tuesday. He was clear of Cool Survivor in third (that horse was beaten as far by EG as he was by the ridiculously over hyped Gaelic Warrior) incidentally. There's a Beginners and hopefully a handicap further down the line for Henry's horse in time.

I’m going to take a punt by putting up Pic Roc. Just a placed Class 5 bumper runner who has had some issues Ben Pauling chose to start him off in a Class 3 for his hurdle and seasonal debut. This seemed a pretty hot race, albeit that Gidleigh Park blew the rest away (as did to a lesser extent Fire Flyer). Racing at the head of things Pic Roc looked at home in this Class until push came to shove when he fell back into the general pack. Nonetheless, it was a promising start and he’s ’ backable if sights are lowered some and a watch to see how he develops if not.

El Elefante - 4th 3/1jf - El Elefante was still in with a shout when getting squeezed up at the second-last but that had little effect on the outcome as she didn't quite last home in the testing conditions. A decent effort nonetheless on her first try at this level.RP

Jagwar - 5th 5/2f - Jagwar, taken out on account of the ground (good to soft) the previous day, was well backed on his handicap bow having been narrowly touched off in an Aintree maiden hurdle (good to soft) on stable/British debut, but didn't jump as well this time and, after a mistake at the last, tired in the testing ground. He'll likely leave this disappointing effort behind given a better surface.RP
