As stated elsewhere there seems to be relatively little interest in the media for the Breeders Cup this year ( Do visit the ATR micro website). In setting up a platform for discussion my only contribution is based on a reiteration of some comments I made a few weeks back.

I share AC’s opinion on Albigna in the Moyglare. Her win LTO at the Curragh was incredible. Whilst I’m biased just go on You Tube, type in Albigna and it will show the finishing stages. Even knowing the result it’s still difficult to believe she wins against some decent opponents. I cannot readily recall seeing such acceleration on a racecourse.
On the same day I’m looking for another top class horse, Pinatubo, to at least be strongly challenged or hopefully beaten by a 10/1 shot, Arizona. The latter has only failed to give its all when running on heavy ground at Deauville. His performance on good to firm at Ascot was one of the best at the meeting and had me deciding that he was a horse to follow. OK, I didn’t follow him at Deauville because of the ground but I have backed him ew for the Vincent O’Brien.

Both horses are engaged again tomorrow in California. Albigna was found to be in season for the Moyglare (Ouch!) but has since won again at the Arc meeting. Once more she finished fast, this time winning narrowly on rain sodden ground. Tomorrow’s ground should be more to her liking. She is top rated by RPR, in my view correctly, though I have no real grasp on the US form. According to the betting her main opponent is Daahyeh, second in the Moyglare. The O’Brien horses can never be discounted but I’m hoping that ALBIGNA, in the Juvenile Turf Fillies, will avoid trouble on the tight US track and unleash that finishing burst and become the second winner of the race for the owners.
Pinatuba produced a superb performance in smashing the field but ARIZONA was clearly best of the rest and is being backed to beat the home horses in the Juvenile Turf. I can’t forget how impressive he looked winning at Ascot. Betting would imply that the stable has confidence.

I'm one of Albigna's biggest fans but in both the Airlie stud and Marcel Boussac she took a while to hit full stride and I'd be against her (though probably won't bet in the race) around the tight turns of Santa Anita.

I just cannot see Albigna winning this TS, although I fervently hope I am wrong. Tight turns, frantic pace and the fact her opponents are mostly on lasix whilst she is not is IMHO a 5Lb penalty. If she does win this then she is another Alpha Centauri in the making.

Have consulted my mate at Delphi, who knows a bit or two. he said "Don"t worry bout a ting, everything is gonna be alright" Next stop Newmarket in May. JH will know.

My yacht is on the drawing board.

Horrible meeting to be chasing at.

Had some nice profits from my Sam Spinner, Summerville Boy, Fury Road treble. ‘Reinvested’ them profits into Arizona and Albigna.

Been an excellent week over the jumps for me, flat not so great. Roll on Ascot tomorrow.

Not sure Albigna would have got to the winner, but doesn’t help having to come through the whole field to try and get a run.

When she goes she cuts through but had no chance from where she was placed. OUCH!

I've made a decent amount backing her, and given a chunk back. I have still have some worthwhile bets at various prices for the Newmarket 1000 and, if she runs,I would still be reasonably confident of a return. let's be generous a take it that she was beaten by the track.
She's given me plenty to shout for as well as some big disappointments. She's not Alpha but Beta plus ain't too bad

I’m really trying to not say it was a bad ride as it sounds like pocket talk. Not sure what Foley is thinking placing her there turning in, way too much to do.
Just watched it back, doesn’t get much better on second viewing either. Least we know to fill the wheelbarrows for Newmarket.

Quick look at Oddschecker show a limited shortening of Albigna for the Guineas. £10 double with Kemboy for Gold Cup yields possible £1050. Mustn't drink, mustn't smoke so have to do something stupid.

Small ew interest on Without Parole 10.20. Ran the race of his life over a fast ground 1m to win the SJP last year.
18/1 365.

I’m fortunate enough to be in the ‘shouldnt’ camp, and agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly

Nice double for Joseph; Downdraft in Flemington and Iridessa in Santa Anita.
Not everyday we see that.

i was about to post something similar -he had a winner at Down Royal -I would say he is the first man to train winners on three continents in one day.

To paraphrase Sid Wassell -when Alexander of Macedonia was 33 he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer -Joseph is only 24.

I threw in the towel before the Turf and Classic but watching the replay of the former, it looks like AVD was checked at a crucial time and probably would have won. I would like to see him stay in training at four as I feel there is more to come from him and right now he’s looking like an under achiever.

Very sad post script to the Classic in that Mongolian Groom broke a Pastern and the idiots at NBC kept replaying it. Not what Santa Anita needed especially as the rest of the meeting went off so well. Perhaps finally they will do what they should have done a long time ago and sort out the drug and steroid issues within US racing.
