I'm travelling to York on the 18th and leaving on the 20th on an early flight from Manchester Airport. Those days coincide with the rail strike and it's going to make a complete mess of my trip. What quick alternatives are there between Manchester Airport and York? Does anyone know how many trains will actually be running?

I paid €465 for a taxi driver to pick me up at the airport and pick up at York at 05.30 Saturday morning in York. This game isn't easy.

Hard, or not, if you can afford £465 for a taxi ride you must be doing very nicely. You’ve got more balls than I have - I couldn’t even face the prospect of trying to do this for a living.
