Newbury Hurdle entries.

The Going Stick reading this morning is 3.6 and, with negligible rain forecast, I personally think the ground will ride Soft at worst.

Money's pouring on to Joyeuse and Navajo Indy who could be best in at the weights. Just about everything else is carrying penalties and are hard to fancy

The money that came for Joyeuse yesterday seems to have dried up (pink across the board), which is a minor concern as that's what happened last week with Meetingofthewaters.

Anyway, these are my figures and thoughts as complied on Thursday. The BOs are as they were then. I', kicking myself a bit for chickening out on my 66/1 KWR bet but if I'd taken 33s to start with and saw the price now I'd be feeling quite smug.

Edit - I didn't like the layout/appearance as it was coming up so have taken screenshots and posted them below.

BO in this instance stands for "Best Odds" and not "Body Odour" and KWR is a reference to that fine beast "King William Rufus" and doesn't stand for "Kentucky Wings Reduced," right?

Acronyms can be so confusing.

Absolutely, and GIRFUY doesn't stand for Glasgow Is Really Fun Until Yuletide

I've cashed out my Joyeuse bet to no loss since it has drifted out to 6/1 and I can think about going in at that price (with the BOG).

I've also added Lump Sum at 33/1, 5 places. I had pretty much let him go unnoticed but he's second top in my table and I'm a huge fan of Sam Thomas and he wouldn't run the horse if he didn't think he had a big chance.

You can't half come up with some crap selectionI would want 66/1 KWR being in the first 8 home...maybe then I'd get paid

I reckoned it was overpriced at 66/1. It's now 22/1 - 25/1. If I backed every horse in the race at that kind of differential I'd make a profit regardless of what won. I don't necessarily set out to find the winner of every race in which I have a bet. I'm looking for a few that might contain the winner among them and then back the one offering the best value.

Not many gave Pic D'Orhy a chance a few years back but it beat a proper job. The race's history shows longshots do win so I'm more than happy to have KWR onside whether it wins or finishes last.

Whaddaya mean, "might"??!!

I'm ALWAYS right! 😂

Banter aside, I reckon it's nearer Good to Soft than Soft, over Hurdles at least, and it certainly ain't Heavy.

Well here we are, ladies and gentleman.

138 replies later, and it's nearly racetime.

If there's one thing you can say for sure about this forum, it's that we all love our racing.

Fair play to Nicky Henderson - he's plotted up another "Schweppes" winner hiding in plain daylight.

Shame Navajo Indy was outpaced and in a different postal district (ready for 2m4f?) for most of the race, but there was no beating the winner.

Nice each way shout there, DO.

Somewhere within this post was the reverse forecast.

Having missed backing Seahouses at 33/1 I thankfully had a last minute bet on Joyeuse ( 5/1 not being my sort of price). Because Bamburgh Castle is allegedly Sir Lancelots mythical castle Joyous ( or sometimes Joyeuse) Garde. It would have added insult to injury if I didn’t back her. Relieved to see Secret Squirrel get up.

Let it rain, then. It should make no difference to Joyeuse hacking up

Took the 6/1 so it was a good race for me with Lump Sum getting second. KWR ran a blinder, still there at the last but maybe just did too much through the race. I didn't back Navajo Indy since the price was too skinny for me and I didn't think to back forecasts or tricasts.

Your Navajo must have a massive engine somewhere in his constitution to come from that far back. That's his big attribute.

The negative is his complete lack of fluency. I wonder if they've tryed some headgear or a tongue tie or something along those lines.

He races with so little rhythm for such a talented horse.

Good evening friends, I trust it's alright for me to come on here and say hello. I'm a new member here, and I'm also new to horse racing. A very interesting hobby, even if I don't understand it all. I shall try and behave myself in the background. I don't want to upset anyone!

Frank.
