Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

What KB was saying is that it was far faster at the start than Lossiemouth had ever been asked to go before but, crucially, also far faster than they go in the early stages of most Champion Hurdles. If they've been planning towards the Champion Hurdle for Lossiemouth for 2 years as has been said, this result won't alter that plan even if they want to see a better performance next time. 7/1 looks a very fair each way price.

These are the TF top hurdlers as of 17 December.

I wouldn't touch Lossie with a barge pole at 7/1 for the Champion Hurdle. She won't win unless something happens to CH and State Man and there are others with prospects of being in the mix. The best she can possibly do is finish third.

She isn't going to win and £40ew at 7/1 would return £110 for £80 staked at 1/4 odds. That wouldn't appeal to me. Maybe 7/4 place-only if anyone offered it, but that seems unlikely.

Suppose Sir Gino messes up next time and goes back to hurdles? I'd fancy him to beat Lossie as well.

Watched the WM post race interview and he said he was disappointed but felt she wasn’t herself. It’s all too easy to dismiss a horse off one poor run or one seemingly poor public gallop. Rule her out at your peril! While she may not beat a CH at his prime, one over jump, one baulking by another horse....I’m leaning towards that not being the true Lossie yesterday.

Damn I missed it! I knew there was a race I meant to watch but I've been laid low with the lurgy and only woke up about 20 mins ago after going back to bed at 10 having done my horses...
Still she's in my good Ten to Follow list! :cheerleader:

I didn't have a bet on the race but it was absolutely jawdropping watching it live.

No fluke about that performance. If Constitution Hill had done that to State Man, the bookies would be paying out on the Champion Hurdle now. That 5/1 on BDA has to be backed.

Amazing, all those supposedly close races - CH vs L, SG vs B, TNL vs RS, SM vs B amongst others - that generated so much discussion finished up with easy peasy and no contest wins. As an aside, does it look like the mighty Mullins stable is on the sick list?

Did cross my mind earlier given the runs of Lossiemouth, State Man, Mystical Power, and to some degree, Gaelic Warrior.

GDC was very impressive and IEP gave Daryl Jacob a good send off, but the above certainly ran poorly.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. Gaelic Warrior especially flat.
Yes OK he’s had some winners but to get a number of very good horses well beaten, it does raise questions.
