Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

Nothing?

NOTHING??!!

He's humiliated Kala Conti (Irish OR 141 probably worth 147 over here) and Beacon Edge (Irish OR 146 probably worth 153 over here).

On Saturday Constitution Hill beat Brentford Nohope (OR 146), whose main claim to fame is that Nathan "Horrible Hughesey" Hughes seems to have some sort of weird crush on him!

Nothing in terms of Champion Hurdle contenders. Similarly, CH beat 'nothing' the other day too but he beat Jonbon 22L in the Supreme and State Man 9L in the CH itself.

Edit - Irish horses rated in the 140s don't get hiked over here by any more than a pound or two. Ratings of 150 and more are agreed by the handicappers on both sides of the Irish Sea.

All tongue-in-cheek banter aside, these are all mostly fair counter points.

As stated ages ago, I've got 50 Anzadam and I agree I need State Man to run another shocker (possible as he's gone from below par to dreadful in two runs so far this season) this weekend.

All I'll say is that it's possible to argue Kala Conti is a better hurdler than Brentford Hope and Anzadam beat KC just as easily as CH beat BH on Saturday.

Not arguing with any of it, Ian, and I'm happy to correct myself re Kala Conti. It is entered in the Schweppes and is off 145.

Brentford Hope is currently rated 146 and is also entered at Newbury but he'd have to race off his previous rating of 148.

I do think BH is being prepared for a big hcap hurdle, possibly the Schweppes. His run at Punchestown, where he got to run off 4/5lbs lower than his UK mark, reads well. His lower mark would maybe make him more of interest for the County, especialy if they can get him down another 2/3lbs by the time the weights come out.

Anzadam on his 1st run for WPM started 2nd fav to one of Gordons who lost since. If they thought he was Champio Hurdle material he would have went off at 2/5
He'd be tailed off in a Champion Hurdle imo

These are the posts I love to read - some great discussion about the "Schweppes" on here in recent days, I think.

I am really looking forward to Newbury, just up the road from me, Saturday week now.
