Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

It seems that the betting public believe last year's Constitution Hill is going to turn up at the Christmas Hurdle today given that it is now generally 1.83 against Lossiemouth being 2.2

Since the start of the century 9 winners of the Christmas Hurdle have tried again the following year and 4 have won (44.4%)

Well that has answered any doubts I had.

Giving 7lbs and considering Lossiemouth was race fit with a run under her belt, and Constitution Hill will come on for that.

Feel like he will be getting back to his best.

Well that will silence a few. Shame Lossie didn’t seem to be on her A game in that she didn’t travel like I expected but possibly she just wasn’t up to it.

Wow....just heard Nico have a right pop at Paddy Brennan...unlike him! What did Paddy say that merited that?

Not sure but he meant what he said!! I'd love to know what Paddy said!

Paddy said Lossie would destroy him. Surprised to hear Nico say that on TV though

Very happy to have taken the plunge at 11/2 for the Champion Hurdle

She probaably never gone that fast in her life.......she now knows what I meant when I said she'll think she's gone into orbit in a Champion Hurdle

Apparently he was wrong about CH like a lot of us.
Delighted to be wrong on tis occasion, it just shows how good Sir Gino is .
Contrast their hurdling though, Ch for a big horse is like a cat while Sir Gino was jumping too high in Fighting Fifth.

Booom. The Champ is back.

Shame Lossie never really went a yard. She still ran well considering. Hopefully Willie doesn't get two and two is ten after that.

Townend said Lossie was never travelling and I have to agree, it looked like that. Disappointing and she’s probably done well to keep going and finish so close. That said, I’ll wager they opt to go back to the Mares Hurdle.

Any thoughts on Burdetts road?
He's a class act....granted he set a suicidal pace today which may have cost him more than a few lengths but he exposed Lossiemouth not to be what they were cracking her up to be something she clearly is not. Add to that Constitution Hill ran a great race but no way was be 100%today there's much more to come imo

I've cashed out on my CH bet. I was being offered 2/1 and decided it was worth taking now just in case anything happens over the next 10 weeks. It's a big bet so better the bird in the hand.

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if rumours emerge two or three weeks down the line to say he's picked up a 'minor' injury and the whole will-he-won't-he saga re-emerges.

If it does happen the market might over-react again and go silly buggers with the odds again.

Whilst all others were going overboard on CH's performance, Ruby noted how few lengths CH had finished in front of BR
Yup. Also, nothing has finished closer to the winner than Lossiemouth has. That, with her not going a yard!

Come on

You have liked lossie when it suited you

It was pretty clear from the start she wasn't travelling and reported to be very flat today.

In a 4 horse race of two horses, she done well to be second based on that showing.

Cant understand all the negativity about CH today. He turned up ( a few said he wouldn't), he followed the pace, he won and now he's fav for the Champion Hurdle.
A high percentage of this thread has been about how Henderson and the CH camp would be making excuses, mightn't even run CH, Lossiemouth would stuff CH etc etc.... but now that CH has won readily its now a case of making excuses for Lossie and saying the others were to close to CH.
I for one thought CH ran a great race and considering he will improve a fair bit from this run I will be looking forward to him routing all comers in March.
