Novice Chasers 24-25

Got to be disappointed by the second coming that was Caldwell Potter? Hailed as something special bar a win early at Carlisle, he's been soundly beaten at Cheltenham followed by today's thumping. Oddly I wondered after Cheltenham if he should be going up in trip but they dropped him back. He doesn't look blessed by natural 2 mile speed though.

Perhaps he's either not that good or has a physical issue. 🤷‍♀️

That dispersal sale produced pigs and CP is very disappointing for his novice promise

Is there an angle in how Irish races are run versus British races and by proxy, how young horses are handled

Long-term plot for the Mackeson and/or Massey Ferguson?

Are they bringing back the novice hcap at the festival?

Nicholls said he isn't top class, which might help get his mark down.

I'm fairly sure Paul Nicholls said post-race that he wouldn't rule out something like the Grand Annual. The Turners is now an open novice handicap over two and a half miles though Caldwell Potter looks suited by soft or heavy ground which isn't guaranteed in March.
Graduation chases may still be an option next season.

What's your line of thinking, PJ?

He had his introduction to racing over here in Irish races run at Irish pace. He got used to one way of training and gallops and maybe the UK air doesn't suit him.

He doesn't look to have improved for his time in the UK. We probably underestimate the change of scenery and how it affects our equine friends.

I also think he probably needs it softer than he's getting now.

I can't think of too many horses who would leave Gordon Elliott's yard and improve

He has problems with his feet too apparently.

A friend of mine won a morning on the gallops plus breakfast with PFN and has asked me to go with her so I will take questions from the floor before I go....:ROFLMAO:

Ask him two

The soft one..The mare maiden today at Taunton

The one that gets you evicted..And how he would spend that 750k in hindsight

Poor Sir Gino, what a crying shame. Really hope he gets better and recovers to his best. As Frankel says, nowt to stop Majborough now, but that’s no consolation.

My view of the Arkle. I have Maj in a double with KDB and a treble with Lossie. I've also taken Touch Me Not 15/2 in the market without the favourite.

Bets:

Dutching Captain Cody & Now Is The Hour

Smaller bets: Gericault Roque, Kyntara

Sweetie money: Caesar Rock, Rock My Way, Klarc Kent

All at best possible odds/terms/boosts.

Majborough is the best horse in the race but the fences are there to be jumped. It will be interesting to see if his jumping improves going forward but maybe he isn't as god as we thought with the first two running to very close to their respective [adjusted] ratings. The older two-milers have little to fear from this group on that evidence.
