What are you backing Today? Part 2

4.25 Chepstow - looks likely to go to one of the pair at the head of the market ( El Matador or Sea Poetry ) however 3rd place is not as straightforward. Looking at the Top 3 market may offer better value - Blazing Bobcat 10/1 ( Fred ) 3pts, Llangynin Lass 33/1 ( 365 ) 1pt and Maury 66/1 ( SpreadEx ) 0.50pt would be my play in in the hope of sneaking third spot. The latter named - Maury - looks somewhat optimistic on what we have seen to date, but he is related to a very smart sort ( Pipsy who was successful in Listed company at two for Ger Lyons and in Grade 3 Class last year in the States ) and hopefully Maury may show a bit better to challenge for a minor spot. Blazing Bobcat is well related also and is worth a chance on debut while Llangynin Lass looks excessively priced despite two modest effort so far and may will hopefully appreciate the drop back in trip.

Balmoral Lady 2.23 Haydock tomorrow 14/1 general
Ran well last time out at Chester from an awful draw.
Finished 2nd last season in a listed contest at Doncaster and has a very consistent record .
Looks a solid each way bet at attractive odds and the stable are in red hot form.
Balmoral Lady has halved in price
Fingers crossed for a big run🤞

Stratford 7,30
Lihyan 17/2 (SkyBet unusually offering top price) looks like value to follow up his recent Huntingdon win where he stayed on strongly

Great shout Ed Walkers horses are in great form ATM.

4.35 Market Rasen
Malinheadsearovers - minimum EW @66/1 in the hope of a place.

Main bet of the day is 7.15 Windsor Mythical Composer EW 6/1 ( Sky Bet Paying 4 Places ) - should hopefully be thereabouts.

One Cool Dreamer - 6.35 Warwick 7/2 Win
Spotted this on the flat and made a note. This is a maiden hurdle and the horse's first run over hurdles. Naturally, we have to consider that they may be lining him up for a h/cap but, considering my current interest, it has to be done.

Fancy Stuff - 8.40 Warwick 0/30 Win
This has done me massive favours in the past and, although I've left it alone since, I'll have a small interest today in this small field with an odds-on top weight.

I'll have a small win double, too.

Probably not going to be a bet. Though checking the weather radar it seems that Ripon has had a shower an hour ago. Does look dry the rest of day though.

RIPON 7:52 ANIMATE 12/1 EW
Runs off 70, but still needs a bit of a pace collapse, as pretty one paced (but resolute). I estimate the leaders clocking a FF time of around 12.8 - 12.9 could be enough for it to be bang there off it's current mark.
However, it does need to get it's toe in, so need to watch the first races to see. Ideally GDSFT (can't see that), but an EW dabble might be OK on GDsft. Looks to have an adequate swing in the weights with Sacred Falls, but again even GD ground might be too firm for Animate to perfom well enough. The pace is predicted to be even, but outsider Neapolitan might pester MART enough so he doesn't get his own way upfront, with a few of the others probably not wanting that pair to get too far away either. With a bit of give in the ground they 'may' start slowing down enough.
Anyway, probably not an EW bet with ANIMATE, unless some rain comes.

Two third placing and a runner up ........

4.00pts Staked

10.11pts Returned or 11.20pts ( if able to get the 5/1 boosts )

Better than a poke in the eye.
