What are you backing Today? Part 2

Rather than block up this thread with my selections, I have started my own one called "Ratings System". I was encouraged by yesterday result's, ended up 27.00pts up, but with not much tweaking could have even been more.

I've had a look tomorrow, and while for the most part I'll be on relatively short priced horses, one horse I've found who I think is way too big is Dunnington Lad in Nottinghams 3.02.

This horse has done nothing noteworthy on the track since August last season, when he won at Ripon off a mark of 53. That was his second career win at Ripon. Now, I'm a bit of a sucker for a horse with a good win strike rate, and Dunnington is 5/23 on turf, which is not too bad at all. He has to bounce back of course, but with the tongue tie applied again, maybe he can run well. I'll take a chance at these type of odds. A market move would boost confidence.

I like Huit Reflects in the last at Hexham at 8/1.
Consistent hurdler and C&D winner. If he comes back well from the rest he should be contesting this and the market favourite is getting a lot of support based on one good win lto.

Three bets for Ffos Las [1pt on each]

2.35-Doc McCoy....currently 5-2
3.05-Obsessedwithyou...5-4
4.40-Miss Popalong...11-4

I'm sweet on Ohailbhic tomorrow in the Curragh's 7.25, although I'm not amused at the skinny price of 11/2 on the early show. I was hoping for nearer 7s or 8s, so hopefully I can get nearer that price nearer the off time. I wouldn't mind a market drift!

Looking at what Ohailbhic did as a three year old, I've a feeling he may benefit from the gelding operation. The early signs look promising. He was a solid 5th, beaten 2 lengths last time, and he should come on a ton for that run. As I say, I think he's a really interesting contender but 11/2 is short enough. They haven't missed a trick.

Not much enthusiasm for them today - but like the following

7.02 Worcester ( Paddy Power 4 Places )
La Cantate .... 22/1
Hello Celio .... 18/1
x
8.02 Worcester
The Great Escape .... 11/1
Spartan Times .... 14/1

4 x EW Doubles 2x2

Low grade stuff but place claims at decent odds. Be Lucky

What a rotten shit show that early price of 11/2 was.

Now out to 12s and that's much better.

Hopefully the horse does the talking later. Fingers crossed.

Take it from me, it is a waste of time even considering a punt the evening before if you want any longevity on your account. I spent long enough working in the industry, it is a completely different business to what it was 20yrs ago or more and anybody winning or even beating the odds will soon be sent packing, and with the removal of BOG by all bookmakers on betting the night before then any appeal hat it once had has now gone.

FWIW in that 7.25 race the now topweight Tango Flare offers some value at 14's with Bet365 offering 5 Places - 16/1 with 4 Places elsewhere is also OK , I just slightly prefer the insurance of the extra place.

I had a shortlist of two for tonights race and the winner was one of them. I should have dutched them. The one I chose trails in near last. Nevermind.

Nightmare scenario in the opener at Goodwood where I've got three trackers engaged. I've dutched Cyclonite and Rare Change and have put Best Rate in a couple of doubles (Ghostwriter and Swelter at the Curragh tomorrow)

Other bet today is a Rumstar (American Affair is a daft price now so have to get involved)/Field of Gold double.

I just want to give a shout, before I forget, to Now Where Or When at Ballinrobe, in their Mayo National on Bank Holiday Monday. He showed his well being when winning at Down Royal a few runs ago. He hadn't won for two and a half years before that, but somewhere in between this, he ran a good third to Kemboy and Vanillier in a Grade Three, when he was wrong at the weights. He also ran a good sixth to The Goffer in a big handicap chase at Leopardstown, so the back-form is there. I think he must have an each way chance on this mark of 125.

I was on Sea Music last time, it'll be interesting to see if he can back that run up off top weight on Monday.
