    Dark Ivy

In the book The Boss by John Budden it relates the story of how Dark Ivy came to England in Chapter 17. The BBC preliminaries had a lovely piece on him at Greystoke and so sad he lost his life through being unsighted at Bechers.

    Arse Cup

The pieces from Alastair Down are beautiful. Why oh why did they get rid of him as a presenter. I hope Rishi Persad does well in the charity race but he can be woeful and talking to Henrietta Knight today wasn't good. She was in a chair and he never asked why.

    Susie The Goat

Really enjoyed the Foinavon book - in the days when you had local shops our greengrocers wife backed him as she went by the Avon river and thought how fine it looked! Shetlands always look a bit scruffy but go and see Socks the moonwalking pony on youtube - he even had hair extensions!

    Retirements and Departures 2013

In essence he said the long run to the second fence with the first (bypassed because they were still trying to save Matuhi) meant they were going too fast. The thought was that the stricken horse should have been put down sooner. Aside from those you must commend Cheltenham for providing the...

    Nasal strips

Used by many eventers. Info below from Horse & Hound. The strips were invented in 1987 by a gentleman suffering from allergies. By the early 1990s they were in production for humans, and used for a variety of reasons, including colds, allergies, snoring and athletic performance. They work...

    Betfair Chase

Like Perputual I love the jumpers. Had tears in my eye wanting Kauto to win. I was one of many who thought he should be retired. Such a lovely and elegant horse and it seems the fire is still burning.

    Retirements & Departures 2011

Cab on Target was a favourite of mine. If you look at famousracehorses he was put down in 2001 after playing in the field where he broke a leg. Strong Gale seemed to produce very handsome progeny and he was no exception.
