2020 Betfair Hurdle Newbury Saturday February 8th

Tizzard doesn't strike me as being that arsed about handicaps. This is a fact finding mission with the CH in mind - that race is awful at present and is completely wide open if it's run on soft. Plus he gets 6lbs off the Hendo horse so in theory he only has a couple to find.

Or they fancy their chances against odds on Call Me Lord. If he’s a genuine Champ Hurdle horse he should be going close.

I’d rather take my chances against Call Me Lord than take on a big field handicap.

Why take on one rated 8lbs superior at level weights for c£17k when you could get more than that for placing in the Betfair or five times that for winning it. If you think your horse is better than 160 you should be running it in the valuable handicap.

Perhaps someone with RI can check this out, including allowing for value or class of handicap?

I thought it was levels on Saturday but I got Mrs O to check it for me. 6lbs it is. Fvcking shite eyesight.

I took 14/1 Thebannerkingrebel this afternoon.

It's 10/1 tops everywhere else, is 4lbs well in and that longer price will probably be corrected by this evening. Clear top on RPRs too as things stand.

I'll keep an eye out for Distingo too. He strikes me as a Moore plot but he might not make the cut.

Yep. As I expected. 10s tops now.

I might go in again on Pic D'Orhy at 25/1. I'm just wondering if it will run. I'd be surprised if its defeat last time was the reason for going out from 14/1. It wasn't off an inch that day. I also plan to look back through the Nicholls placed runners in the race over the last few seasons. I wouldn't be surprised if they 'hadn't run their race' the time before.

Quite like the Evan William's pair. We might actually get some better ground for a change this weekend.

Will come back to the race later in the week but Mack The Man running for owners that only really want chasers must be a tip in itself.

A tip he is a very good horse, yes. A tip he is the natural heir to the betfair hurdle throne, no.

The owners do have Esprit Du Large in the Arkle who I like a lot.

Looking forward to seeing if Oakley can deliver the goods.

The market says otherwise.

Speaking of 'the market'..how are Ladbrokes getting away with advertising 12/1 on oddschecker for Oakley when he is available at 10's in their shops?

Please don't tell me that you get two different prices these days in terms of the internet and shops?

Ladbrokes aren't responsible for the prices shown on oddschecker. The chances are if you click on the oddschecker price and are taken through to the Ladbrokes site, the price will be corrected there.

It happens to me a lot, usually with other bookies.

Yes I see that plenty of times too. Generally avoid betting through Oddschecker for that reason and don’t think Lads/Hills net boosts apply via Oddschecker either

In general the Oddschecker app is fairly poor at keeping up to date with the prices actually available imo

Does this apply to AP prices too ? Just wondering if using Oddschecker for the AP Comp would be the best method next year.

No I haven’t noticed the problem for AP prices just day of race when prices change quickly especially in the hour or so before the off

Just been looking through some form for the Exchange Chase at the weekend. Genuinely believe now Kalashnikov suffers the same illness as our good friends Singlefarmpayment and L’ami Serge.
