2021 Oaks

Wow

Brilliant by the horse. Brilliant by the jockey.

Moore at his abject worst on Santa Barbara but would never have beaten the winner in a month of Sundays. Hard to understand why he rode SB rather than the winner.

Filly has improved so much this year but that ride was superb. I was watching Divinely as I had her each way and ought she was travelling nicely so missed Frankie make his move. But the winner is going to be hard to beat.
SB not the filly they thought regardless of the ride. Possibly a flatter track will help....or maybe the blackberry jus has curdled...?

Yes, but surely they know how they stand at home relative to each other.

For Snowfall to be up to that kind of performance you'd imagine she was showing them something like that at home so was Moore happy to let Frankie ride another classic winner at his expense?

Was it all part of a gamble on Snowfall?

Still, slice it up however you will, that was some performance.

Even if, allowing for the exaggerated effect of soft ground and allow just 1lb per length, it's clearly a mid-120s performance and if she goes on to take on the males they'll have to be 3lbs better again to beat her.

It will be very interesting to see what the sectionalistas make of it.

Was it an Arc performance?

Well, desert, if they didn’t know pigs might fly. You’ve got to have the horse under you, but it was another Frankie masterclass, although he was a bit naughty barging Hollie out of the way (didn’t her horse get into a dreadful state).

When going changes like that the old r jocks know every blade of grass, every vicissitude of every track.
Added to that the filly had a load of race practice which always stands to them against less experienced opposition.
Some wow factor though; imagine what Ballydoyle would have won with Frankie as first jockey.

It sure makes up for John Magnier's " least if not last thanks " to Frankie after his Leger win on Scorpion in 2005 at the height of the Maktoum/Coolmore fracas.

Santa Barbara was ridden like a non stayer and came looming. I'd question did she stay.

If you read Simon Nott's big bet report it's easy work out who 'The Lads' were on. It wasn't Snowfall. She was very weak in the market all week.

Player in the Arc.

I checked her odds shortly after the race yesterday. In to 5s or thereabouts. They can stick that right up their Khybers four months before the race with the Derby, Irish and French Derbys and Oaks still to be run, plus the King George, Eclipse etc etc etc.
