2025 Imperial Cup (Handicap Hurdle)

Paul Kealy goes for Afadil and Spirits Bay. The chances are he will put them up again in his Saturday column so I would be surprised if they don't contract either today or on Friday afternoon. His selections usually do.

There are two ways of assessing that Just Enemmi win at Auteuil and one of them suggests there could be a touch of the Kopeck De Mees about his opening British mark.

I can see why they are immediately targetting a valuable handicap.

Maxwell can do the weight, but he's hardly a consistent asset in the saddle - I will wait to see if it's declared tomorrow and the right price on the machine would make him interesting to me.

I backed Spirits Bay at 12s this morning when I saw he’d been declared on the BHA live Decs tracking website still AP though so no money back if he’s a late non-runner. He’ll pick up a stone bruise now no doubt

Well, first post for absolutely ages,I am no pro,or any good on write ups.
IMPERIAL CUP SATURDAY
WRECKLESS ERIC for me.
Decent trainer and jockey ,nice weight,distance winner.got 10/1 .
Here's hoping for a few pennies to pay for some Cheltenham Bets.
Good luck all
China

I also expect reckless Eric will go close
I also think anyone who thinks Bo Zenith can win should seek help
He's a complete rag avoid him like the plague.
Fingers Crossed Lump Sum can take the spoils for Sam

This should be an interesting race.

If you can give myself the artistic license to catagorise this forum as part of the 'Racing Press', which to be fair, you might not anyway, I'm about the only person who even knows To Chase A Dream is running in the race.

Well, myself and simmo.

Henceforth, I'm hoping for 16s or 20s tomorrow.

Go Dante would be great for my Ten To Follow, so I'd happily see him win.

Surely one of us on this thread has mentioned the winner.

I've seen a lot more boring and uninspiring renewals of this race, that's for sure.

Enjoy it everyone.

I think people have made some decent cases for Spirits bay and Go Dante but I haven't got involved antepost and those prices are long gone.

At the current prices I'd probably side with Hardy du suiel. Ran a decent race 3 lengths behind Secret squirrel latest.

Has a decent course win here in soft ground in front of 3 who went on to achieve better marks. He's a couple of lb higher here but with a 7lb claimer. More importantly the cheekpieces are reapplied for this they've been left off in his last couple of runs and he has run well in them before. Should outrun his price at least with only one outside of him in the betting currently.

Best of luck lads.

He's in my alerts so I added him to my other 2 at 28s boosted to 31/1.

I'd say if Go Dante can't recapture last year's Imperial Cup sparkle, on paper Afadil looks as likely to be the beneficiary as anything.

I bet him at 12/1 last night, a price already evaporating elsewhere.

Go Dante/Afadil - there's your Imperial Cup reverse forecast right there! 😂

We're Red And Blue has gone out to 33/1 so I've gone in again with 5 places and the BOG on offer. In for a penny...

By the way, this is the only race I've 'done' today. Channelling my energies towards a couple of midweek meetings.

Would you believe there was a brief period in my earlier (and even stupider) years when I actively looked at the likes of Sedgefield etc in the belief that it would be easer to find winner there?

Talk about not seeing the wood for the trees...
