A Forum revisted

Relative newbie here. I have found the forum to be welcoming on the whole so I can't really agree with what you said at the start of this thread. However, I do think that, personal spats aside, EC1's posts contributed greatly to the forum and I for one miss your contributions. Of course, I was never involved in any of these personal spats so that's easy for me to say.
 
I am not sorry for anything I posted in relation to J Mangold. I took in good faith the comments that his IP address had been identified (by people who should know these things) as a mutli-guise troll and I'd have to say the nature of the posts struck me as trolling so when he started directing them at me I put him on ignore.

I am stunned that it is EC1 but I'm afraid I also take it as a betrayal of my trust in him that he chose to have a go at me (it has to be said in very much the style of Phil Waters and his various personae) when we exchange emails and ideas and I am one of his greatest admirers.

EC1, feel free to get in touch with me the usual way if you feel this is fixable. If I don't hear from you I'll presume you wish to be deleted from my contacts.
 
Is this really Ec1? surely not,thought it was some troll off betfair from the very first post looked like he was just out to wind people up that's the way it came across,never see any new members post like that on here ever unless out to cause havoc.I have to agree though for new members can seem a bit intimidating but dodn't stop me continuing to post and I have never een part of any clique as ec well knows...like a few others on here I have no idea was he was banned originally either..

Before I go any further though I'll refer anyone that is interested, very few probably, to the first 20 pages of Gigilo's thread.

Oooh yes it was a long time ago, this is Gigilo, the legend that Mr Mangold was scolded about. You can't criticise him on here, he is untouchable.

Interesting then that in those first 20/30 pages of his thread, the only supporter the guy had then..was I.

Isn't it funny that if Gigillo had taken the "forum view" then, that he was trying some sort of scam..he would never have carried on..and you would not have had what you have now. You can't thank the worthies on here..Slim..Luke etc..they were on his back like you were with Mr Mangold.

My point here is that on that thread..only I was welcoming to Gigilo..none of those now who sing his praises..those that needed a year or two to accept him...would entertain him.

I'd take the Mangold lesson on board tbh..if it can override teh arrogance within you.

Its pretty simple really, the very best posters can get driven away before they even get going if a site gangs up and takes against them before they ever show their worth.
 
If I was the admin, I wouldnt't delete this thread, I'd just make it into a private conversation. As for @EC its really boring seeing everyone agree around here, having someone with different opinions is a bless so I'd welcome him back, especially as I remember he had so many useful contributions.

yes its me, sorry for any winding up you got. see above post though, they are what mangold character was about..you were the perfect example of someone who was doubted for so long..those with the greatest early doubts now shout the loudest.

i didn't get banned..i asked to be removed for performing consistent cuntistry, maybe some will include this thread in that category, but its to make a point which I hope will benefit the forum in future re new posters.

I won't bother you again, but stuff is not right here, there are people here that will strangle newcomers and retard the forum. I don't want that, I put many hours of posts in here, and to see it be the unfriendly hateful place it is turning into is not savoury.

I know I upset people late on, I'm sorry about that, sincerely, but I like this forum very much.

A couple of smokescreen posts there Slim that don't really addrees any points. The fact is that you were one of Gigilo's biggest critics early doors, you gave hime no favour. But now he is your hero, you didn't show much judgement of character initially did you?

Basically you want to be the top guy, your ego demands it. You have had to back down now though re Gigilo. Its not long ago that G nearly stopped posting due to you,

I supported the guy from day one, an ability you and a few others on here lack with new posters.

When you and a few others man up and admit this failing, ego won't allow that i'll wager, then the forum will gain new members rapidly. The alternative is that you throw your balls around like Buster Gonads and such as Archielab will continue with 8 posts a year.

What if J Mangold was about to start such a thread?..if left to you and Desert Orchid..it wouldn't transpire. And Benny..fook i was real disapppointed with how he turned on Mangold.

Forums are about the present ..but also the future

many moons ago i remember a poster like Gigilo start on another forum..again he met criticism..he turned out to be Stav/Seen,,who himself went on to legendary status on that board..guess who was the only person who supported him early on..yep..another medal needed.

EC - as you know I have been a supporter of yours on here. Your selections were good, your time based analysis was interesting and you have excellent taste in music.

However... your Mangold alter ego was just a troll. Deliberately antagonise people and they will bite.

I got on well with Stav so you can't blame that or the JFK assassination on me. Given the forum he went died an absolute death he would have been better off manning up and staying on here.

But we now know for a fact nothing would have driven away gigilo because he's dealing with far worse cunts than me for years on the Betfair forum. I think it was fair to question his motives at the time and some felt he was creating market moves for his own gain. I'm happy to be wrong about that and loads of other things but I say exactly what I think and that will never change.

I think questioning motives is fine, but there can be a fine line between that and virtually saying to someone..you scamming cnt.

I don't know any easy answer..but I do think that newbies have it hard now in this knowledge hardened game..we could be missing out Slim on next Gigilo..or even the next Slim Chance:)
