A Forum revisted

There is also " I pooed on my skirt today" or something similar as well - but they have to go some to beat the penis beaker... mind you, we had a bit of a weird twist to the Fireman sam thread recently [emoji23]

Didn't Euro once post a link up to mumsnet once?
I think it was a lady who was expecting who was a bit frustrated with her other half because he was kicking up a stink that the 12 week scan was on Champion hurdle day

Yes - there was the cheltenham one, she couldn't understand why a few of us were totally on her husbands side [emoji23]

King George is about 12 weeks before the Champion Hurdle.

Maybe he backed the winner and celebrated with a lumber?

What I will say is that you were unnecessarily cruel to DG, EC - a and I'm sure you're big enough to offer an apology. A pretty huge one at that. However, you are a great judge of horse racing, and the forum has missed your input. I remember the two novices you put up back in October 2015 that haven't turned out too bad: Altior and Native River.

Just read through the last 5 pages. The very beginning and the very end both made me laugh out loud.

Oh the hypocrisy!!

ok, so I'm going to respond to some bits of this thread, as I think it is required. I'm not going to multi quote properly as doing it in notepad, but quotes will be in order of how they were posted if you want to find the original.

The admin may be superb in some ways, but they would do better if they curbed the vitriole that deters many folk from bothering to post anything.

And if members reported posts that they objected to then I might see more and remove more (if needed). Just glanced through the last years reports and can't see even one from you. I have said time and time again, use the report button. I'm not on here 24/7 & I don't read every post.

Bear in mind all my posts were constructive, they were dismissed and i gained abuse for nothing really.

I disagree.

Archielab, barneys happen online. It is the nature of the beast - especially so when strongly-held beliefs (such as opinions on races/horses) are tested - but on TH, they flame-out as quickly as they flare-up, and apologies are generally accepted in good-faith.

This. I moderate very rarely, for this exact reason. 99/100 times, arguments are sorted out before I even see the post. What would people prefer, I ban everyone who disagrees with someone? There would be no one left. I'm a member of quite a few forums, and the ones that tend to fail are they ones that the moderation is so strict that no one dares post! I've never been like that, and I have yet to deal with a dispute where everyone was in favour of whatever decision was made. Look at Phil Waters, I got more pm's after I banned him, telling me I shouldn't have, than I have about any other decision made. I'll also be the first to admit, lack of early action can cause the fall out to be worse, but it is, without exception, only in hindsight that that becomes apparent, and, fingers crossed, rare on here.

Since the day I set the fourm up I have been told there is a clique. There isn't. There is a group of members who have been members for a long time, who post regularly, that isn't a clique. To gain anyones respect, be it on the internet or real life, you have to earn it. If I walk into the pub at the bottom of my road, where I've never been in, and start telling the regulars what the best lager is, that Sunderland are shite, and Newcastle are a much better team, then I would get kicked to ****. If I ease myself in, after time I'll be accepted and respected with all the other regulars. Why do people think forums are any different?

When I left here my personal life was in crisis, I took it out people here, I'm very sorry about that.

I'm sorry to hear that, I genuinely hope you are on the up now :)

Being serious, that's what I meant by antagonistic. In your Mangold guise, you mainly contributed to a thread where you know the author is a borderline psychotic, and who routinely calls people out as guessers, and/or tells them to clear-the-fu*ck-off at the drop of a hat. It is hardly a barometer of the rest of the forum, and it is totally unfair to use the responses you received as a measure of the site as a whole.

The will win thread is a bit of a dodgy one. I like to think most people see it for what it is, and the 'get off my thread' comments are taken the way they are meant. However I also see the other side where a new member could read it and be put off posting, or someone finding the forum via google, and not registering because of it, especially around Cheltenham and National when traffic goes up massively, which isn't what we really want to happen. However, its one thread on the whole forum, and I like to think people reading it in full will get that the whole forum isn't like that. Again though, that comes back to how I moderate the forum, I can guarantee it would be removed on probably 90% of other forums I use!

like a few others on here I have no idea was he was banned originally either..

He asked to be removed from the forum.

A couple of smokescreen posts there Slim that don't really addrees any points. The fact is that you were one of Gigilo's biggest critics early doors, you gave hime no favour. But now he is your hero, you didn't show much judgement of character initially did you?

Does that not tie in with what I said above about walking in a pub, proving my point.

many moons ago i remember a poster like Gigilo start on another forum..again he met criticism..he turned out to be Stav/Seen,,who himself went on to legendary status on that board..guess who was the only person who supported him early on..yep..another medal needed.

ffs his heads big enough without saying he's a legendry poster :D

I got on well with Stav so you can't blame that or the JFK assassination on me. Given the forum he went died an absolute death he would have been better off manning up and staying on here.

Was that DR?

I wasn't blaming that on you, I was just using him as another example of my very good early judgement of new posters

From memory, you knew who 'seen' was though didn't you? Might be wrong with that one, but just thinking back to a conversation I had with him around the time he started using that name.

But you also have to accept that a lot of these new accounts are just trolling bastards that head straight for the will win or daily picks threads because they have an agenda.

Quite true and I know where a lot are coming from too, stupid enough to come directly from the other forum!

It's a bit like going into a pub. If you've never been there before and there's a load of regulars sitting at the bar, you can't just go in there behaving like a cun.t - the regulars won't tolerate it.

pffttt wish I had read that an hour ago, would have saved me typing mine out :D

Genuinely laughing here - the posters on Mumsnet's AIBU sub-forum would eat this place for breakfast!

/shudders/ now I'm genuinely scared knowing you post over there :D. Just glad to see all the members over there are such well balanced ladies :D

Where do I register to test this out?

Don't, just don't. You will be eaten alive. Seriously.

Outsider looking in - EC1 needs to square it with DG before posting again (no matter the substance of his contribution previously ).

On a lighter note...

What do you call a man with wood on his head?

Edward.

What do you call a man with three bits of wood on his head?

Edward Woodward.

What do you call a man with four bits of wood on his head?

I don't know, but Edward Woodward would.

...Oh and how you've acted towards DO , as measured and sound as he is, under your 'experimental' alter ego is out of order.

I think the pub analogy is a very good one. Posting on this forum is like walking into the local where the music stops and everyone looks at the you when you walk in the door.

Now I'm off to Mumnet...

As the senior, wisest, calmest, most cherished, cerebral and respected member of the TH Forum I have been contacted by some of my adherents to represent their views on this important manner.

The consensus view is that I have been asked to suggest to J Mangold that he should find something more meaningfully constructive to do with his life and precious time and if he can't then he should go take a flying phuck at a rolling doughnut then a flying phuck at the moon.

Best Rgds

AC

In that case may I suggest the 19-21 female hockey photo page. Never disappoints.
