As those of you who have been following the Have A Race Named After You thread will know, Cantoris's Winning Ways Racing and Talking Horses have won the right in a charity auction to sponsor a race at Navan. This has only been possible thanks to excellent support from some people here.
The race will take place at the Saturday Jan 24 meeting.
Racing at Navan is always decent, and that day's meeting will be no exception. The racecourse is providing free admission, access to the Sportsman's Bar and the Arkle Pavilion, plus free race cards and hot beef rolls for upwards of a dozen Talking Horses guests (there will be some flexibility on numbers).
The following day sees the AIG Champion Hurdle meeting at Leopardstown, and the management at Navan racecourse have very kindly offered to arrange reserved seats at Leopardstown for us at a reduced price.
Navan can be reached by bus from the centre of Dublin or from Dublin airport on the Saturday morning (Arkwright is the expert on this subject), but if enough local people with cars get involved we might be able to do better than that. Getting back to the airport from Leopardstown is straightforward. A ten minute walk from the enclosures takes you to the Aircoach terminus.
I will book a table at one of Dublin's more convivial restaurants for the Saturday night.
All in all we have the makings of a great weekend, so get your names in quick, and please indicate whether you're interested in both days.
