A Great Weekend in Dublin

Should be a great weekend and Bewleys at Leopardstown racecourse is offering €69 rooms. Also, Bewleys in Ballsbridge have dropped their rates.

I will be at Cheltenham for the Pillar and at Leopardstown for Irish Champion Hdl, hope to meet some people there.

A great event is to unfold. People will converge from all directions, some meeting at the airport and others in the city centre, at railway stations and roadside bus stops, to witness a star come amongst us and herald the beginnings of momentous times ahead.

The winningwaysracing.ie & Talking Horses Pro Am INH Flat Race will take place at Navan on Jan 24. Those farsighted enough to be present will not cease to speak of it. They will marvel at the generosity of free admission, complimentary race cards and steaming hot beef rolls.

Above all they will gape at the equine talent assembled to compete for this notable prize. And they will rejoice when An Capall's selection, notified in good time, sails home to the despair of the bookmakers.

Celebrations will ensue that night at the Winding Stair restaurant in Dublin, close to the famous and picturesque Halfpenny Bridge.

The next day the sun will rise with a new confidence and the remnants of our hardy group, reinforced by fresh arrivals, will assemble at Leopardstown to witness racing of an admittedly more banal quality. Neither the Irish Champion Hurdle nor the Arkle Novice Chase can be expected to match the quality of the previous day's bumper at Navan but they might provide a few flickers of diversion.

Leopardstown racecourse, anxious to ensure that the comparison with Navan is not too painfully unfavourable, has very kindly reserved seats for us in the upper level of the stand, which they will be offering at a discount.

After racing the Aircoach will be on standby to assist those of us needing evacuation back to safer latitudes.

All those who have already indicated an interest in being there will be accommodated. Amazingly, there is still time for others to add themselves to the list.

I hope the fact that the ownership is in recievership doesn't queer the pitch.

They're still trading, for the time being at least. Something to keep an eye on. It's not the restaurant but other parts of the group that have failed, I think?

So far the following people have expressed an interest in coming for all or part of the fun and games:

Galileo
An Capall
Flagship Uberalles (alright, you have an exam on the 26th, but I don't see the connection :p)
Arkwright
Gearoid
Betsmate
Flame
Rorydelargy
Shadow Leader (A nice man whose name is one syllable less than quinine has been in touch to say he will look after your horses:ninja:)
Trackside
Del Boy
Sunybay
Grey

There's plenty of room for anyone else who's interested. Priority goes to those here on the forum.

Cantoris will be organising a separate Winning Ways Racing contingent.

Heading up to Navan today to make sure the facilities are up to our very high standards.......oh and to see our horse Limberlite King run in the second!! He will need the experience but we think he's a graded hurdler and would be disappointed if he doesnt run well, albeit he prob wont win over this short trip.

My job situation is a little up in the air at the mo but all being well I should still be ok whatever happens.

Indeed well done Cantoris. Still not the best of jumpers (though he seemed to go better the quicker they went) but clearly has a fair engine to still over come that.

Very pleased with that performance today. Novicey at his hurdles but has an engine - the former can be taught - the latter is either there or not!

Thanks guys, very pleased with that. DV kept telling me how he was a good thing!! I didn't listen to him though. Hopefully he is ok over the next week and we can make some plans with him, something which we haven't been able to say before with much confidence!!

Very encouraging performance, Cantoris.

Know it's a bit early yet, but I'd imagine a winners of one would be the plan next? Or perhaps dive straight in to something like the Slaney even? Fingers crossed he stays sound and well.

Small stumbling block that our current syndicate horse Chamerion may be running at Hexham on the 25th,am hoping she'll go to Towcester the previous Sunday instead.

So it'll probably be a couple of weeks before I can confirm.
