Some interesting looking markets at the moment although targets aren't totally clear.

I like Ahoy Senor in the Bowl. He loves this track and didn't go into the red at Cheltenham. I kind of want more than 4s though.

The Melling looks a shitshow and Millers Bank is winking at me at 25s but that run lto at Ascot troubles me, it was bad. Like Senor though he does like this course.

Phoenix Way I'll end up backing if he goes for the Topham. 2m5 is his trip.

I agree about Phoenix Way.

Now Where Or When is also entered, along with his other entry in the Irish National. He is a horse I like aswell.

But yeah Phoenix Way lightly raced and could put in a big run.

Geez Euro you are a glutton for punishment. Ahoy Senor? you do know that horse has a screw loose and anything can happen when he's around? I simply couldn't trust him not to take a fence with him again.

Shishkin looked like he hated every minute of the undulations of Cheltenham. I will be surprised if he turns up but if Nicky does send him I would have him down as a stonewall certainty especially if Bravemansgame doesn't turn up.
That said he is also in the Marsh so who knows where he will run if anywhere.

I reckon working out which horses will run makes it too early to be backing anything at this time.

Constituion Hill has been backed from 1.5 to 1.22 and £4,599.92 matched........who are these lunatics who lay the backers? I was tempted but sticking to my guns..no more largies.

If Maries Rock turns up she will be a danger but my banker for the meeting is Teahupoo who is another who nver looked at home at Cheltenham
I reckon will absolutely love Aintree

Yeah Now Where Or When I want to see in the Topham. The race could be perfect for him.

I couldn't and wouldn't want too much on anti post though. I remember he was entered at Cheltenham earlier this season before being taking out, and as he is also entered in the Irish National, I would at least wait to see if he is scratched from the Irish National before committing for the Topham.

I like his chance a lot though if they do drop him in trip for the Topham. That run against Kemboy was excellent.

I think Pic D'Orhy is a very reasonable price at 9/4 in the Marsh Chase, and would have him a fair bit shorter in the market myself. Hitman likely won't run in opposition (isn't the same class anyway, imo), neither Shishkin or Envoi Allen will run, and everything else apart from Fakir is a handicapper. Clearly Fakir commands respect over the C&D, but I think last year's race was awful, and he faces a much sterner opponent this time, who goes well fresh.

I took an early price about Gesskille to get his revenge over Al Dancer in the Topham, and was pleased to hear the positive update on him from Greenall and Guerrero yesterday.

I will be looking to lay A Plus Tard in the Win and Place markets if he shows-up in the Bowl. I thought he was already beaten when meeting some trouble in the Gold Cup, and disagree with the suggestion (in some quarters) that he was a little unlucky at Cheltenham. This is a quick enough turnaround for a horse that's had problems this season, and I can see him blowing-out badly.

Pic D'Orhy was awful in the Manifesto last season and I'm not sure I trust him on a left handed track that can be a jumping test. I seem to remember him coming down at Newbury as a novice as well. Happy to take him on with Millers Bank who has shortened markedly since I took 25s.

You could be right but when horses go off the boil like he did last time out it's not a great sign if they ran up a sequence beforehand in lesser company.

But like that horse of PN's who won the Haldon early on like he was the next coming then Pfft.......

I can see the Pic D'Ohry bubble as having burst and him going the same way if he goes to Aintree

Personally can’t have the idea that Pic d’Orhy is value at 9/4. He might win but I’m not sure the form of his wins this season amounts to all that much.

What makes you say Hitman is unlikely to run Grassy? Have I missed something? It could be that he had a hard race in the Ryanair of course but I wouldn’t agree that he’s not good in the same class as PDO (I did think so earlier this year)

Vike, if I was being kind, I'd say that Hitman probably wants genuine soft ground at 2m4f on a sharp track.

If I was being unkind, I'd say he's a tripless, gutless hound, that duffs-up inferior animals under ideal conditions, and never puts it in at the end of races when under duress. :)

I think Nicholls will run him in the Bowl rather than here, as I'm not yet convinced he'll let Bravemansgame take his chance, and he likely knows they'll be too quick for him in this.

Since the wind surgery, Pic D has won three times, and the only horse to beat him this season was a back-to-form Shishkin......with Fakir D well behind that day too. That form in defeat is better than anything Hitman has done, and that's without even looking at his wins, which I think are dangerous to dismiss so lightly.

Maybe the 9/4 isn't reasonable value, given I appear to be in a minority of one on the race......in which case, I'll probably go in again on the day, if he's bigger.

Maybe, I do think Fakir is a bit GATG. I have to admit a fondness for Hitman though. He ran a smasher in the Ryanair and his defeat at Newbury was mainly tactics based.

I’d like to stress here that I’m not advocating backing Hitman as I’d agree he’s a gutless hound who’s lost several races he should have won (see Old Roan Chase) so I don’t think that’s unkind. Just trying to get a handle on the likely field. I think he’s a non-stayer at 3m but who. knows

I’ll probably end up backing PDO but would want to see a bigger price although that’s probably wishful thinking

He was giving a lot of weight to smart rivals in the Old Roan.

I've been hovering over the back button with Brandy Love who is quoted for the Liverpool Hurdle. Running here makes way more sense than going to Punchestown but I'd want to see an entry first.

Dunno about that. ROTS has been beaten an aggregate of 120+L in his three subsequent starts, and Ga Law was running for the first time in almost 2 years. Think it was a poor race that he should really have won, but he turned it in and wouldn't go past the winner.

That might be fair re GA Law but ROTS is best fresh, subsequent runs are not his thing. He was the same the previous season - good opener and then pure gash.

ROTS record after a break is a bit mixed, tbh - not sure I'd entirely hang my hat on that argument.

I am hanging my hat on that. Since moving from Twister his best two runs by far were his seasonal debuts. His four wins since coming over from Ireland, only one of those were not after a break.

Friday's entries are out and at this stage looks a really interesting card.

Mildmay should cut up. Not sure 3m1 would suit Journey with Me or Stage Star and Aintree might not be Gerri's bag. City Chief missed Cheltenham but looked very good before then and 20s with 365 is too big.

I'd want to be against the home team in the Top and Find a Fifty appeals at 6/1. He also missed Cheltenham and I think it's fair to say Corbett's Cross franked his form in the AB. Would think he'll go for this to avoid Mullins at Punchy.

I already have Millers Bank in the book for the Melling. Very happy with that.

Topham isn't my sort of race but I do like Phoenix Way and Demachine who are on winnable marks and finally running over an optimal distance.

Sefton looks hard.

I see Bold Endeavour is entered in the 2.25 at Aintree on Saturday and I won't be looking past him if he is declared.

He went wide throughout in the Coral Cup and I wasn't best pleased because of this with Nico De Boinville but at least Nico pushed him out for fifth place and I got some each way returns. Rewatch that race if you don't believe me, he was a real eyecatcher.

I was wondering if they would run him again this season and so here he is as a possible runner on Saturday in a handicap hurdle over 3 miles at Aintree. Look no further. It'll be a case of how far I reckon. :)
