Aintree (other races)

It was a very good ride from Harry Cobden and his jumping won him the race. However, I think Jordan’s was a bit unlucky as he lost a few lengths swerving away from the carnage and was well out of his ground afterwards. Just ran out of puff near the end. I may be biased though, as I did back him.

6.11s slow, but that doesn't tell the full story.

Rail movement meant they raced over an extra 41 yards and the race was 3m1f31yds.

If that Mildmay Chase Course is Good to Soft, I'm a rabbit called Lionel and my actual name is Ian and I don't even have floppy ears. 😂

I've got rather a large price win only Wellington Arch (2.20) tomorrow and, possibly against my better judgement, I will be giving Kopeck De Mee another chance too.
The Talking Horse massive will no doubt be relieved to know that their favourite Uncle Smart Arse has once again kept the wolf from the door. 😂

I actually wanted the runner up for more - and it's hard to escape the suspicion he was given a bit too much to do - but I got an average of 26 the winner on the machine so it would be churlish to grumble! 😂

Oh I do love Caldwell Potter when he gets into a rhythm
I kept thinking is this what’s going to happen in the National with Kandoo Kid? It’s vital he gets a good position at the start. Kept having memories of Suny Bay taking the inner route in the National.

Money for all of Nicholls' horses (bearing in mind Sans Bruit yesterday too): Corals, Hills, Ladbrokes go 25s Hitman?!?!

I'm a KK fan. Cracking run last year in the Topham, then wins the Hennessey this term. Ignore last time as it was plainly "just a run" and I think PFN has brought him here as he intended and flying slightly under the radar - rather like CP at Cheltenham as pressure is then off.

I watched Julius Des Pictons for the most of the first circuit thinking I was watching the one I'd backed before I realised my mistake but I did keep an eye on it for the rest of the race because I thought it was a Mullins horse, so well was it travelling. It actually got shuffled back quite a distance on the second last bend but made the ground up easily enough and, for me, is value for more than the winning distance.

SP 14/1 but it was 40/1 on Wednesday so it's another that had attracted support along the way.

I reckon the winner could well be a National horse either next season (as a first-season novice) or the following (as an 8yo).

My thoughts on the 5.00. The price has gone on KDB so I'm leaving the race alone.

In any case, by that stage of the day I'll have taken a dispensation from my Lenten no-alcohol resolution and will be Lilian-Gished celebrating the Grand National win.

(Or drowning my sorrows.)

Timmy Tuesday looks worth a small bet in the first. And I really liked Our Boy Stan in the last before so backed him last night at 22s and his price has halved.
