Aintree

I think things generally point to the Triumph being an average renewal. The Boodles is/was ultra-competitive.

Take Brazil out and we'd all be talking about the Gaelic horse was absolutely thrown in yet Brazil beat him despite having a rougher passage than the day after a vindaloo and six pints of Guinness.

Take my Grandad's tadger away, and he'd be my Granny, DO!

For my money, all the right horses finished up-top in the Triumph, and I think it was a perfectly representative running of the race, tbh. Just taking a view - we'll find out soon enough if it's right or not.

Pied Piper really should win, but you have to worry about the form of Elliott's horses. Boodles horses have a terrible record in the race which puts me off Brazil, so I wonder if there might be a bit of a shock.

I'm starting to think coming here fresh, Petit Tonnerre or Fautinette may be a bit of each way value at 10/1 and 16/1 respectively.

Even out of form Pied Piper may just be too good though.

Yes I am taking a chance on Petit Tonnerre.

FYI Pied Piper has been backed for fortunes and is by far the best backed horse running today.

From the same yard Conflated is the exact opposite and is underpriced big time they can't lay him for tuppence.

Jeeziz...

I'm called out of the house before racing and come back to find Pic D'Orhy beaten a long way out (and the race won by the one he beat before) and Fautinette pulled up.

Can't think of a worse start to the meeting for me in years.

That is a bullish*it result chucking PP out. No way was that interference - PP jumped the last in front, FFS.

Sorry Grassy I dont agree.Davy jumped across it on purpose enough to put it off.Richard Johnson used to do it all the time.
Right decision imo.

Bad mistake D.(pic d'orchy)

If that's the case and they are consistent then they are gonna have to change God knows how many races going forward.

To me the that reeked of the stewards sticking 2 fingers up to Gordon Elliot.

I think they had to throw it out. And remember it probably looked far worse from different camera angles. Did it make the difference? Yes absolutely.

Still 7/2, so nothing to make me happier. Going out so can’t keep watching points - taken a small bet although I shouldn’t.

In the following race I reckon Impulsive One will run a lot better than 40/1, but whether better enough to place, maybe.

…….No, you shouldn’t, how many times do I have to tell you, pillock, DON’T BACK DRIFTERS.

……or maybe not, 4th though.

Good start wasn’t it

 I’m glad someone else berates themselves! I was sitting there during the 4yo race saying “mmmmmm? Shall I back Knight Salute in running.....?”

Just had a good lift at Exeter which was part of aplan to back Epatante.

I know Nicky said she doesn't want 2m4f but there's no known pacemaker in this
althouh PN may have McFabulous in there to try and ensure a strong gallop.

Can't say I am too concerned as I reckon Epatante is a classier individual than
Zanahiyr and Aiden just need to be patient to pick him off in the closing stages.

The exeter winner allows me to back Epatante 15/8 5 Star*****bet without too much worry

I also like the look of Royal Pigaille 8/1 EW 4 Places 1 Star*bet

Yehaaaaa! Aiden followed the script to a T :)

I really thought Epatante was the only each way bet/angle against Honeysuckle and so it proved.

I left her alone today and she wins.

That's3 Grade 1's this season which makes Honeysuckle look even more special.
On the even brighter side thee's no chance Constitution Hill will go Irish hampion Hurdle now
That we want to keep until next season

The one in front is permitted to take any ground it wants. Brennan even said the horses didn't touch. It's a piece of fu*cking nonsense.

You de man, Fist, you de man.

Of course you can take any ground you like..but at the risk you are going to force another horse to come off a straight line......Do that and if the winning distance is minimal then you are out.

That's the rules whether you like it or not..They need not touch as the jockey on the offended horse will automatically try to avoid the offender

That was a nice double I laid Jett and laid your argument Grassy to rest at the same time:lol: Hope you weren't talking through your pocket

Look at the tramlines PP is in the middle of the dark strip approaching the fence and lands nearly in the middle of the light strip. Cut him up for sure.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference jumping the final hurdle involving PIED PIPER, dead-heated for first, ridden by Davy Russell and KNIGHT SALUTE, dead-heated for first, ridden by Paddy Brennan. It was established that at the final hurdle PIED PIPER jumped left-handed and impeded KNIGHT SALUTE when carrying that runner off its intended line. Bearing in mind Brennan's mount was making ground all the way to the line and there was no margin separating the two runners at the finish, Stewards ordered the placings to be revised as follows: First: KNIGHT SALUTE, Second: PIED PIPER, Third: BRAZIL (IRE), Fourth: IMPULSIVE ONE (USA). The interference was found to be accidental in that PIED PIPER had jumped left-handed thereby causing interference.

How has PP "cut him up" when KS was behind*?

"Carrying the runner off its intended line" is fair enough if the horses are more-or-less level, but that wasn't the case here. All that happened was PP went into ground that KS was headed for, and if we're going to start lobbing horses out on the strength of that, the game is shot.

The jockey on the front-runner is surely permitted to place his horse wherever he wants? Simply taking ground that the second might liked to have run into, isn't cause for interference (imo) - especially when a) the second is clearly behind, and b) the horses did not touch. The obligation is surely on the jockey of the second-placed to go around in that scenario, as KS did.

*Maybe I'm missing something? I watched it live, and once very briefly on replay, and it looked to me that PP was definitely clear of Knight Salute, and I think Brennan confirmed at the Stewards that the horses didn't touch.

I had a speculative bet on Guard Your Dreams at the start of the week (and had Zan in a multi). I didn't lay Epatante, though it did occur to me to do so.

I called her wrong. If that was the only one I called wrong today, that would have helped. Bloodbath frankly - but I'll go again tomorrow.
