Amateur Jockey Races Thread

Lets add Freddie Robson to this thread. Grandson of the legendary Olympic Three Day Event rider, Ian Stark he (according to Alice) has mopped up in Pony Races and will be pointing and riding in amateur races this season.
Freddie Robson has had three rides in Points for Tim Vaughan, a ride in a Bumper under Rules for Tim Vaughan and a ride on the Flat for J Candlish.

Duh! completely forgot this. And I did mean to watch it too. Pleased he won though. I saw him win at Chadds but it was at Larkhill that he impressed me. He was set for second coming over the second last but really got stuck into his mount and got a great response. OK the fav came down at the last but for a lad who's only just starting his career, he really got down into and behind the horse and got it rolling. That is a rare thing to see especially on such a relatively inexperienced rider. I got the "wow" moment as I watched him.

Maybe not an amateur, but over in Ireland Micheal Kennally seems to be making himself heard. Looks like full value for his 7, but the bookies seem to have cottoned on already. I wonder whether he'll get some nice handicap rides at the festival.
His ride on The Nagger Reidy at Leopardstown was extraordinary. Very much along the lines of McCoy’s famous Festival win on Wichita Lineman.

Might be off the mark here, but can see Patrick Mullins reuniting with Stattler in the Foxhunters' / Hunter Chase this year. Needs another run to qualify, but is being booked in for Hunters' Chases in the next few days. Looked revived last time. 25/1 seems good to me.

I'm so not a fan of these big professional yards dominating the races that should be restricted to the Amateur sport they represent. To have these highly rated horses dropping into hunter chases is all very well but it really annoys me that they feel the need to plunder and pot hunt and remove the one chance that pointing yards have of winning at the top table.

I have tried several times to get conditions changed but it falls on deaf ears and in any case, these yards find a way round it by running them in the name of the wife/head lad.
