Great to see him back and get a good reception from the crowd today. Speaking to a bookmaker before racing and I said the roof will lift if he jumps the last clear. No he says not one of those horses. Well he was proven wrong, everyone willing him over that last fence. Nico really is one of the most unfazed jockeys riding. Completely in control and he acted like it.

There is absolutely no chance Shishkin will run in the Gold Cup.

He ran as expected.
Such a shame Allaho is out of Ryanair. Would loved to see how they would have priced this up now.

Horse and trainer! I’m in awe of what Henderson has achieved with Shishkin and Sprinter Sacre. I was in the racing doldrums when See You Then was running. I’ve found racing a bit bland thus far but yesterday blew me away.

Even that return from the dead by Shishkin surprised me..Looked as good as ever which is good enough to revisit Cheltenham but no chance he'll go Gold Cup

Very impressive Shiskin.
He's 9 now, I'd love them to go for Gold with him, but realistically that isn't happening.

I don't really understand the clamour for the Gold Cup, tbh.
He might be a 9yo, but he doesn't have a huge amount of miles on the clock. He's only had 10 races over fences (15 in total under Rules), and I agree with Henderson that Ryanair and Betfair Bowl are the right races for him for the remainder of the season. Testing his stamina so soon again in a race like the Gold Cup just seems crazy to me.

On all known info Nicky has made a wise decision in my opinion
There wasn't much between Shishkin and Energymene over 2 miles.
Shishkin may be better over the longer trip but he's only beaten a Grade2 chaser in Pic D'Orhy
Compared to Galopin De Champs Pic D'Orhy is a cart horse.
Despite what the handicapper says if you told Willie Mullins Energymene was as good as Galopin Des Champs I supect he'd laugh in your face.
No brainer he runs in the Ryanair is the right decison
