BLOODSTOCK and BREEDING 2012

Dick up for the job

Dick Turpin is looking extremely well. We went to see him on our way to the Craven Stakes. For a stallion he is really chilled - very amusing as they are normally a bit crazy! Apparently he has had a 93% success rate, has taken to his new job really well and is a peace of cake to deal with - aaaahhhhhhh! He will be going to Australia to cover some more mares over there at the end of July and will be back in the UK around December time ready to go again here!

After all the back and forward my Darshaan got shuffled off to England for a New Approach cover - fingers crossed she takes as it's getting late for a re-do at this point!

His old lad was the same when we met.

From the RP site:

THE first foal of the Aga Khan's outstanding racemare Zarkava, a two-year-old filly by Dalakhani, has been named Zerkaza.

The filly's name has been registered with French racing authority France Galop, although she does not have a trainer registered nor any race entries yet.

It would be expected that Zerkaza would enter training with Alain de Royer-Dupre, who trained both Dalakhani and Zarkava to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe for owner-breeder the Aga Khan.

The Aga Khan follows a convention by which homebred foals are given a name with the same initial as their dams.

Zarkava, a daughter of Zamindar and Zarkasha, was unbeaten in seven starts including the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Prix de Diane and culminating with a two-length score in the Arc.

She also has a yearling colt by Sea The Stars, a colt foal by Galileo and has been scanned in foal to Dubawi this year.

THEATRICAL has died aged 30.

Second in the 1985 Irish Derby, succumbed to old age at the Hill 'n' Dale stud in Kentucky.

He had been stood down from his duties late 2009.
