Brave Inca

Couldn't find a thread of its own,but glad to see Colm Murphy get a nice winner today, after one last Sunday too.

shows the monopoly held with good horses that a trainer like this has fallen off the face of the earth

Also if Oran ever logs in these days, would be great to see you post again

Perhaps Frontrunner, Grey, or edgt can give him a wake up call, and tell him he's a miserable bugger!

Its the time of the festival and to some on here, an old memory may not be too relevant with all the racing coming but below is a picture of former Champion Brave Inca from earlier this week

Grand yoke. Well named too - game as a pebble.

It was a great time in hurdling when Inca, Hardy, Macs Joy and Houndibald were taking each other on.

Cantoris, though that was his name on the old Neigh forum. Can’t recall if he had same moniker here.

Think his real name was Oran. Got into syndication for a bit after Inca, but not sure if it went too well.

Yes, he posted as Cantoris on here too

Still has some syndicates going and has had some luck with some other horse too

Royal Kahala won the Galmoy in 2022

I’ll never forget that Supreme with Brave Inca fighting it out with War of Attrition! And I have a fond memory of listening to him on the car radio when we were driving round Ireland during Punchestown week ( strange how sometimes races that stick in my memory the most are ones I listened to and didn’t actually watch). Also proves the point that great horses have great names.

Sadly if it wasn't for youtube my memories of Brave Inca would not be good.

I had moved to Thailand and it was just about the time Brave Inca was past his best when I could actually watch racing live.

I knew by looking back he and Hardy Eustace were tough as nails and I expected they might fight out the finish in the 2007 Champion Hurdle.

Both were tough as nails had been leading 2 out when they won the race and proved impossible to get past.

In 2007 both were past their best Hardly folded like a sheep and at the last Brave Inca was slowing like he had been shot leaving Sublimities momentum to carry him up the hill.

As things turned out Sublimity proved to be probably the worst Champion Hurdle winner in history.

However what a battles between Brave Inca and Hardy Eustace they produced in the formers winning year.

The in-running betting from 3 out must have been all over the place. One second it looked like Hardy Eustace was going better then the next with AP on board the race swung in Brave Inca's favour
then Hardy Eustace knuckled down and he looked like he could win the battle. Then the 2 horse battle became a 3 horse race when mac's Joy joined in and looked like he might spoil the party but Brave Inca
was having none of it and ran out one of the gamest winner of all time.

If you get 1 race as good as that at this years Cheltenham you are in for a treat

Oran/Cantoris is also involved these days in some of the Shamrock horses trained by Aido McGuinness.
