A genuine mistake on his part I think - I initially thought it was quite funny but hadn't applied any racial thinking to it - I was just amused at the idea of the royals having an ape/monkey for a baby.

Idiotic thing to do but notable how much more lenient the BBC used to be with Clarkson over his comments and behaviour on film until he punched an assistant producer in the face that is.
