Breeders cup 2023

Have retreated to the sidelines and I'm looking forward to the next race -hope the big 3 Europeans bring their A game.

Ryan smiled:D

Horse will deffo be retired now, only the 2nd Derby winner to win the BC turf

I imagine he was mighty relieved! Big weight on his shoulders with all the hype over this horse. I actually believe he’s as good as they have always said and it was interesting to learn about the fact they thought he’d been beaten the twice due to racing with his mouth open and possibly affecting his natural breathing rhythm. Cue putting on a noseband for the Irish Champion and bingo. The soft ground at Newmarket and Ascot presumably didn’t help either.

But I am pleased for them....and he completed double with Inspiral
so happy for me :)

"Nobals is a gelding"...Best TV commentator mischief for a while.

Loads of fun on podcasts before the breeders Cup trying to pronounce it not sounding like a horse minus its bits. Very amusing. Auguste firmly shut up the doubters. That was an amazing performance and he went past top horses like a knife through butter. Interesting he won most races turning left. Just a wee thought on why he might have bombed out. Massive stallion for coolmore now along with justify who looks like the next galileo.

The Classic Crop of 23 is well up to par now .
Outstanding performance by AR.
Noble Nobals is all I can say ; from Golden Balls to Nobals the BC is definitely inclusive .

Ar doesn't get the credit he deserves as he doesn't win by far. Watch the race again and he takes 3l out of the field when kicking off the bend. He showed the same burst of speed to catch king of steel in the Derby. He just idles in front. Great tactical speed is just as important as finishing kick.No chance he's staying in training. John magnier was probably spitting feathers to hear mv magnier saying he might. I'm glad he showed how good he is. Brilliant breeders Cup btw only slightly spoiled by the over cautious withdrawals.

I’d love to see him stay in training. Look at Frankel...didn’t harm him! But I guess they are desperate to capitalise on the Deep Impact/Sunday Silence part.

And yes it was a superb BC!

It was a very enjoyable nights sport.

Only goes to highlight how lightweight British coverage of racing is. Jerry Bailey and his mate are fascinating to listen to and had a very good understanding of British racing. Adele and Jason were very good on itv to be fair but most times, the rest of them put me to sleep with their clichés and obvious bias and lack of research. Was two fabulous nights coverage of great racing topped off by Ryan's pa's de resistance on a rodin. I think the ride of the year is settled now.

To be fair to ITV racing they have brought the Breeders Cup back to terrestrial tv. I spent years not being able to watch it having fallen in love with it from watching it on tv many years ago.

To be fair to ITV racing

Fair, you must be kidding.

I get the feeling that fairness or even trying to be fair isn't the modus operandi of many folk in the world we live in.

If it was up to me I'd bring back Alistair Down, (is he still alive?), resurrect John McCririck from the dead, then implement the old 500 pound free bet on the morning line for one random caller on the now defunct 'Monkey Business'.

They don't make racing programmes for each of our own images or particular tastes though. I wouldn't expect them to either.

If people can't handle it don't tune in or watch another channel.

ITV's a commercial channel and it's their remit to big everything up to suit their advertisers.
Truth and facts went out the window when the BBC pulled the plug,I'm afraid.

I'm not sure what the situation was with Down away from racing and he certainly has a way with words, especially given time to put them together.

Ditching McCririck was 10, maybe 20, years overdue. He was the TV equivalent of the forum bully.

The ITV7 is much better than the Monkey thing (which I'd completely forgotten about). At least there's an element of skill in picking the winners.

I almost can't believe I'm typing this but I was genuinely pleasantly surprised to see Alice P presenting the morning programme the other day. Her make-up artist didn't do her any favours but her very relaxed style and enthusiasm for the sport are perfect for the role. I look forward to seeing more of Tom Scu too. He also looked totally at ease in front of the camera.

Right now I can't remember who the other presenter was, so they couldn't have been very striking.

I don’t watch ITV all that often, but when I do I’m always quite pleasantly surprised given the slating it gets on here. It is, after all, aimed at the general racing public and in newspaper terms that means pitching it somewhere between broadsheet and tabloid - sort of Daily Mailish.

On Saturday I thought Tom Scudamore brought a lot to it. Explaining about trying to change the lead foot at the fences, for example.
