Champions day Ascot 2023

[FONT=&quot]Not the best Champion Stakes that has ever been run (Mostahdaf would have been clear form choice had he not been pulled out due to the softening ground), but definitely one of the most memorable, providing a thrilling swansong in British racing – or is it?!? – for the legend that is Frankie Dettori as he brought King of Steel from last to first to claim the spoils.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]It was another race on this card run at a strong pace for the conditions (winner’s final 2f of 26.67s represents a 96.3% finishing speed), but those behind did not panic and came through to dominate where it mattered. King of Steel’s 121 rating is more or less on a par with the previous 4 winners but well behind 133-rated Cracksman in 2018.
