Champions Day - soft ground again

A good horse Top Notch Tonto, look more like a donkey but new specimens should always be welcome. :)

There's times to look at form, there's times not to look too hard at form, and there's times not to look at form at all.

Great to see a Geordie with a cap at Ascot, more please.:D

the 7/2 available on DA too big to ignore now

I rowed in on DA aswel
Seeing him struggle was almost as bad as seeing whoevers bare arse cheeks that was in the mirror when they were interviewing Jim Crowley

Good race. I was quite impressed with the way Farhh repelled CDA but I suspect ROTW is the best of them. He had to race wide, lost ground on the turn and kept on surprisingly well in the circumstances. Hope they all stay in training next season.

great race

winner remind me how good Frankel was

Cirrus not opearting at his best but Soumillon poor ride, slow pace and should have made much more use of the gelding

Derby winner very good run, career best effort and one to look forward for next season.

Farrh is a very good horse but whenever I see him winning a big race I remember what Frankel used to do to him .

An excellent race. I don't think Soumi can be blamed CDA probably isn't quite the horse he was and Farrh found more than expected .

Ruler of the World ran a good race and there are very few bad Derby winners . Change in tactics on Mukhadram was baffling .

Terrific performance by Olympic Glory and an excellent ride - he loves soft ground but put in an excellent effort on good - he seems very dependent on getting a flat track though .

Thought the sprint was a pretty poor renewal . The staying race was run at such a crawl that no surprise Estimate could never get involved and two 1m6f horses fought out the finish

George Baker gave the riding performances of the day both in defeat and victory .

Frankel would have been at least a couple of lengths ahead on that ground. On better ground it would have been more like 6 or 7.

Farrh's whole career has tied in with Frankel. They would have met on their second starts if Farrh hadn't been withdrawn; that would have been one of the best conditions races ever run. Rainbow Springs was placed in the Marcel Boussac. Now Farrh and others keep reminding us how good Frankel really was.

Didn't Frankel run two seconds faster last year in even softer ground ? He gets better even though he has been retired a year !

Just back, ride of the day George Baker on Harris Tweed, heartbreaking he couldn't hang on, fantastic ride and line came just too soon; sheer delight on his face after Seal Of Approval; Top Notch Tonto, great to look at, best turned out, owner in tears as he walked back in, jockey and lad couldn't stop smiling and rightly so; Ryan Moore walking back in on ROTW very frustrated/disappointed said ' he kept hanging in on the horse to his right' : Farhh worthy winner kept on when they came at him; Channel4 booth eye sore.

Watching again I wonder why Jim Crowley made that exaggerated move - I don't think Talent would have won but a more patient ride would have seen her to better effect.

On a side note. Simon Holt needs to restrain himself a bit. Whilst I am all for commentators injecting a bit of excitement through their voices, he sounds like someone has just rammed a giraffe up his bum.

I must disagree Simmo, Underexcitement from commentators is absolutely criminal in my book
Listening to John Hunt on 5live is as close to perfect as you can get and in the closing stages of a race he sounds like hes having a whole zoo rammed up his jacksy :D

I'm not asking him to be under-excited - just stop ******* screaming like a 5 year old in Gary Glitters house at the end of every big race.
