Cheltenham 2016

Mild damp day forecast for tomorrow with temp in double figures.

Cold march overall with up to 30 mm rain over the first ten days and then cold and dry according to accuweather; let us see how it bears out .

Thanks for the updates and keep us posted; small bags for Ryanair so we need it right or will be visiting charity shops for more than just racing books !

Netweather experts are also predicting a cold march, but not to 2013 levels

snow could still be an issue though, IIRC in 2013 Cheltenham racecourse got a caking of snow a week after the festival

I say it will be Douvan.

Looks like they've bottled it this year after taking a hiding the past few years and have announced that, having lost millions in the last 4 years, this year they'll be offering money back a free bet for all seconds (max £25), which has already been put up by BetBright and will inevitably be offered by Ladbrokes and Hills too.

Can't say I'm too arsed given PP have barred me from them anyhow and all eyes will be on Sky Bet & Hills opening day offers now. My money is on SkyBet leading the way.

You are missing the big picture -the opening day special could never be a winner for the company -it's all about getting punters in on the first day and keeping them there.Sewer rats are just ignored.

No, I'm not missing any picture and I'm fully aware of what a loss leader is but this year they've elected to duck it.

How is this going to get punters in on the first day ?. It's not a particularly risky approach is it and if they want to fall into the same category as BetBright then good luck to them.

Long term no but if they were profiting from it over time then why nothing this year ?.

Betfair merger perhaps or quite possibly the adverse news yesterday surrounding them and their failure to adhere to responsible gambling practices.

I have to say I am fairly surprised by the decision-maybe they will concentrate on shop specials for the mugs.

With the PP offer, if you backed in shop, more than one horse in the same race at £25 and one came second, would you be eligible for the free bet?

T&Cs don't seem to clarify this.

But the email I got seems to indicate that the £25 MB2nd won't be available in PaddyPower shops?
(Dunno why they email me offers when my account is restricted to pennies).
Also, Harry, careful how you go regarding betting different horses in the same race; read the last line of the email. :)
Anyway, ..................

I think the weather has meant that some of the flat bred horses weren't ready for a qualifying run for the bumper whereas they've been able to kick on with ex-pointers. Interesting that Gigginstown have allowed Willie to enter a couple of theirs.

That PP offer is shite. It's not a million miles away from the one they have every single day.

Trust me to only clock this when the Barters Hill special was on......I'm all against him. Bah!

Good shouts though, KA.
