Cheltenham 2019 / 2020

Samcro been given a stiff looking handicap mark of 157. I’ll be amazed if he makes the journey

Delta Work surely runs in the Irish GC not here

He was never going to run. I think they wanted to know what mark they have him on so they can do collateral Mark's themselves.

BTW these are BHA performance ratings so they are not allotted a mark until declared. The BHA keep performance ratings on all Irish horses. I'm hoping DO or someone can explain to me how flexible they can be turning the performance ratings into official BHA marks between entry stage and being declared.

If Samcro is on 157, where does that leave Faugheen?

Fakir D seems to be what the handicapper is rating him around. Hard to split the pair on the Drinmore run and Fakir's subsequent run behind Notebook (158) backs that up.

Samcro hasn't run up to that form subsequently in Limerick so notions of 167 for Faugheen are wide of the mark imv.

Hard to see a mark higher than 160 for a twice raced novice, especially with the latter run on heavy ground.

Eddie O'Leary said after Limerick that it now appeared likely that Fakir D would have beaten Samcro in the Drinmore convincingly even if the latter had stood up. Maybe when he said it he was angling for a more lenient handicap mark, but I think he's right anyway.

I haven't been following this thread but was killing a few minutes ahead of going out and noticed this.

I'm afraid I'm not in a position to help, Slim. I don't read up enough on it. I used to write occasionally to the BHA to ask for clarification on some issues and they were usually forthcoming*. Perhaps you could contact them directly?

(*Especially David Dickinson, but I suspect he retired a few years ago.)

I will do. Thank you.

Does Rich Ricci have anything in the Supreme?

Bapaume - Arkle
Sharjah - Champion
Benie - Mares

Could be a good first day for Mullins and Ricci.

Aione who won today, although he's probably one for the Ballymore, but most likely to be Fly Smart if he lives up to the hype.

Expect there will be some young ladies inside the door promoting PP, you can usually speak to the panel during the break if you wish or via a roving microphone in the audience during the preview itself Rory, formerly of this parish, did that job on at least one occasion I remember. There will be a draw I expect with good prizes, a few trade stands and the Gold Cup is usually on show offering a selfie opportunity. I've won every gold cup for the last ten or fifteen years
