Nine race bumper card and I reckon it deserves it's own thread. My thoughts:

Comfort Zone vs the Moore horse who beat Jet Powered is a nice opener.

The novice hcap chase has a nice betting shape to it. Fire Dancer heads the market but has little experience over here and is one to take on. Stage Star is if anything worse value, he's soft. I have three trackers in this - Datsalrightgino (finally stepping up in trip), Dalamoi and Panic Attack. I prefer the former, was hoping Pipe would step up the latter to three miles.

Clarence House is a watching race only but really interesting nevertheless.

The 2m4 hcap chase again has a nice shape to it. Fugitif is a worthy fav but there's plenty in opposition. Il Rodoto is the new Frero Ballbag. Always towards the head of the market for no apparent reason. Your Darling and Phoenix Way I backed last week at abandoned Ascot. Not sure about Cheltenham for either although the latter ran well fto at Chepstow so we know he doesn't need it flat. I actually like Precious Eleanor in this at a big price. She's won at the track and jumped noticeably to her left at Sandown last time out.

I have Ahoy Senor at 10s for the Cotswold. He was more tractable at Kempton than at Aintree and whilst I expect the front two will be hard to beat I like him at the price.

Paisley Park has to be taken on at 11/10 doesn't he? I may dutch Drashel and the pumpkin representative.

The final two races are watchable but not the sort I'd have any financial interest in.

Very much looking forward to it....fingers crossed they get the frost out of the ground and get covers down in case of frost on Friday night.

In the Juvenile I’m quite interested in Jupiter Du Gite who surprised connections coming home on his debut run at 66/1. It was no fluke, though, when push came to shove he shrugged off the opposition in a few strides and finished very strongly. Could be a good one, but seems a bit of a handful.

I'm totally shellshocked. JUPITER DU GITE is cranky - he's mad in the head. He'd behaved himself impeccably today except when I saddled him and he went through the roof twice in the saddling box. Whether he's got an easy lead up front or loves bad, bad ground, I don't know - Gary Moore, trainer.

Much as I like Fern Hill in the novice handicap chase I think he struggles beyond Class 3 and I can”t see past Stage Star otherwise.

In the Cotswold my eyes are on Dusart. Great things were expected, but he’s had his problems. He did pretty well last season and has had wind and back surgery since. Enjoyed a trot round over hurdles at Cheltenham early December as his pipe opener (no idea why he was favourite) and this one will tell if he is finally on his way to start dining at the top table.

Inspection at noon tomorrow. Discussion underway with the BHA about moving the meeting to Sunday if it fails.

Hope it goes ahead as planned as Sunday doesn’t really work for me

I think it will run Saturday. The CofC isn’t taking any chances after last time so is covering all bases.

Passed inspection today but second check planned for 7,30 tomorrow morning

Three horses interest me for a sporting bet. I fear your good self will write the latter two off as mere handicappers in graded company, but anyway....

The handicap chase at 1.50 is interesting. One or two pundits have mentioned Your Darling as a potential Plate horse at the Festival. He has show shown talent but even though it was over three miles the last day, I wasn't overly happy with how he finished.

He looked a bit stiff or unfluent to me so while he can run well and certainly get in the placings tomorrow, I am looking elsewhere for the bet. The horse who I really feel has a lifetime best in it is the Irish raider NowWhereOrWhen.

He's a second season chaser who showed plenty ability in his first season over fences. Only seen once on a racecourse this season where he battled gamely near the line to hold off a late challenger.

This fella had a Becher Chase entry and was also entered in a valuable two mile chase in Ireland recently. It seems connections have decided to run here and I feel NowWhereOrWhen is the surprise package. Phoenix Way can run well and get himself in the places if he is back to his best.

In the 2.25 I will take a chance with Sounds Russian. He travelled really well on his penultimate start in the race Noble Yeats won and was finishing off well.

He then ran a great race in defeat in that handicap at Wetherby giving more than a stone in weight away to the second horse. I hope Ruth Jefferson has a good horse on her hands, and he can go close tomorrow.

In the 3.00 I will go left field with Botox Has. He won that big valuable handicap at Haydock and his last run needs a line putting through.

On the figures and form he is up against one or two classier types but I just feel he is a bit of freak who might be able to get in the shake up.

Lets hope it goes ahead.

I'm not writing off Botax Has or Sounds Russian - they both have their chances in those races. I can't have Your Darling at Cheltenham though at a single figure price.

I have had to make a decision on backing Your Darling or a horse I know can be very good on his day in Phoenix Way. Taken a chance on the latter each way. I am sure I described him as one of the best handicapped chasers in training last season after he beat Fanion. Whether he was anywhere near that description then or even now is probably very unlikely, but ff he retains his ability he can surely get in the shake up.

You wouldn’t believe Edwardstone wouldn’t just go storming past as he drew level. Courageous EDG or what.

Proper spectators race now

Beaten champion who will have to alter tactics

Stable second string suddenly more interesting

And a guaranteed pace from the outset

I'd be tempted by Energumene but I'd wait until closer the day as I think you could get 3s or 7/2 now on the day.

Plus I couldn't back him now as I'd want an update from Mullins first about why he got beat today and if he is ok from a physical point of view.
