Christmas Songs

It was actually released the week after Christmas with the specific aim of getting to number one. In those days the lowest 7" sales were in the first week of the year, but they knew they could rely on maiden fans buying 20,000 copies of so - and so it proved - straight in at number one.

I have the DVD of the Box of Delights having been enthralled with it as a child. It hasn't aged well and I shall just have to cup my hands around the gentle flame of nostalgia.

Last night I binge watched The Children of Green Knowe which I did remember parts of ( especially Feste) and tonight I binge watched The Box of Delights but remembered very little of it so it was like watching it for the first time. It was pure escapism and I loved watching both of them. This on top of finding a favourite cartoon version of The Snow Queen on utube that I probably haven’t seen for sixty years. A total nostalgia fest and it was wonderful to escape back into another world for a few hours.
