Can't see a bet on the first day. Duke of York looks interesting if you like that sort of thing.

Dettori riding some nag over Foundation in the Dante resulting in an eye watering 6/1 about the Highclere colt. Gladly taken. There's a reek of recency bias about this horse's price even at 4s which I would have taken also.

Could be an expensive day Thursday with Express Himself declared for the Hambleton.

Do you think that stamina might be an issue for Foundation, Euro? I had a good word for Deauville who hasn't much to find with Foundation and looks to have a stouter pedigree.

I know what you're saying but I've always thought if a horse can get a mile comfortably as a 2yo he or she is gonna get 10f at three.

I did look at Deauville when he was 10s for this but the price was actually too big given connections. I also have it in mind that AOB historically has run some right turds in this race.

On what they do at home I suspect that the Chester winner is AOB's favourite but Deauville seems sure to improve for the trip and 13/2 looks a great ew price given that York requires a horse to be a stayer. Foundation has looked a bit soft to me but he's in the right hands. Good luck.

One of the best meetings of the whole season, but with the rain around today (still hissing it down) expect the ground to be a deal softer than that forecast.
Abe Lincoln (4.20) would probably have hosed up with a clear passage in his listed run, and be off a mark well above the ceiling for this race, so little surprise his trainer reintroduces him in a handicap
.

I'm hoping the going will be good for Hernandoshideaway in the first race. The drop back to 10 furlongs seems sensible. The first time hood can get this horse back on track. I'm hoping they make use of the fact he stays further.

I certainly do and I backed Magical Memory ante-post at 6/1 after his Newmarket win. Unfortunately, the rain has come to some tune and although he's plenty of form on good to soft I'm not at all sure he'll like the ground tomorrow. Mattmu and Danzeno come into it in addition to Twilight Son and I'm half thinking of laying some of it off.

I'll definitely take on So Mi Dar with Fireglow in the Musidora. At this stage, I think the latter's Guineas fourth represents better form than So Mi Dar's Epsom win even though the Epsom form has been franked. Fireglow's pedigree suggests she'll stay this far and she'll act on the ground.

Given the jockey/trainer relationship, it's clear John Gosden also sees that 'nag' the better prospect of the pair, and as he trained full brother Eagle Top, must have some idea of his chances. In the light of that logic, 20/1 Wings Of Desire for The Derby looks huge.
On Jockey bookings, you'd also surmise Ryan Moore would be on Midterm; were he anything special?

Dettori chose Eltezam(who) over Shalaa in the July Stakes. People put way too much store in jockey bookings.

Aye; the difference being, they weren't housed in the same stable.

Ground good, g/f in places (g/s 7.8 this morning) which enhances Magical Memory's chances in the DOY somewhat.

Nayel is the bet of the day for me. 2 pts each way.

Off a mark of 83, come back run over this distance slight concern that didn't see it out but looked fit and ready, taking to the front but not lasting. Last race 2015 won over 8 furlongs, second place horse won several times since winning latest off 91, 3Rd winning off 79 so 83 loos decent with improvement to come.

Nagging doubt about the distance so nit going balls deep but biggest bet for a while.

For a bit of extra interest also backing the following today:

Hoof it - Mick Easterby had a few winners recently and always likes this course. Decent claim on board.

Mattmu - taking on Magical Memory, bit of rain about today and ground should soften up sufficiently.

In first place - Richard Fahey 'should come on a ton for the run' after last time out third. Decent entries lined up too.

Reputation - John Quinn in a bit of form in last two weeks, drawn wide which isn't ideal but each way value.

Carthage - Brian Ellison does well with these hurdling/flat types and decent form last spring. Should be fit from hurdling and expect with the juice in the ground should be finishing well from a wide draw.

Spanish Squeeze and See The Sun in the first two for me. Clipper looks tough, Musidora a watching race and will look at the rest of the card later when I've a better idea how the track is riding.

There's been a plunge on Albernathy in the 4.20 today. 20/1 this morning, about a quarter of that price now.

That's a great call. Well done.

Good shout mate

Cheers guys, bit annoyed I didn't trust my homework and dive in again. I was waiting for the price to tumble but as it stayed the same I didn't go on again. Still, not often one I am brave enough to put up comes off.

I thought he would be it was just the way he slowed down first race back that made me doubt it. one to follow, definitely but won't be a decent price after that.
