Dettori to go freelance

Not the first time either - didn't he get stopped in London years ago and a "substance" found in his car?

He lost a contract to ride in Hong Kong when police found him with a quantity of cocaine in his possession back in the mid-nineties.

That wouldn't have been the frst time either - he was found with stuff on him in Hong Kong(?) I think when a very young man. Acting his shoe size now it seems as well.

Wonder if that's what really prompted the split with Sheikh Mo?

The chronology certainly fits - tested positive 16th September; split went public on 21st October.
For all the slagging Sheikh Mo got on racing fora, etc, it would seem the situation was entirely of Frankie's making, and his employer has acted admirably throughout.

Is it more than coincidence that Kieren Fallon, the other top jockey working in Britain to get done for this, was also caught in France rather than on home turf?

Plenty of occasions when top jocks in this country mysteriously cry off their rides due to a cold, though....

Perhaps he gave Camelot a sniff before the Arc which is why he under-performed there ?

Drugs are for mugs !

Fallon is a master of getting stuck in traffic jams on the way to racecourses in the UK as well.

Non Darley personnel were openingly talking about it at Ascot and said there was due to be an announcement on the following Tuesday(23rd), so leaked badly by someone.

I don't think undermining your No 1 jockey as Sheikh M did by appointing Barzalona and preferrring him in a number of G1 races is particularly admirable.

Barzalona still has a long way to go - his ride on Sajjaa in the fillies listed race on Saturday was shockingly ill -judged.

Agreed Ardross, though not much wrong with his ride on Pour Moi in last years Derby or Encke in this years St Leger !

Dettori was by no means a finished article when appointed by Sheikh Mo either but his attitude towards certain rides has been on the decline for some years. Every person has their day, Dettori did well to stretch his for so long. To lose it seemingly, finally through something so stupid is totally idiotic behaviour. It does him or his family no credit at all.

Dettori was on a huge retainer for years and for years this has blunted his enthusiasm for 'lesser' horses. He will not turn down rides for any of the Sheikhs, he has privileged access to stallions as well.
Is he into bestiality too?

What an idiotic posting.

What has it got to do with his family- namely his kids - are you suggesting the sins of the father should be visited on the children ?

Who's the idiot? Where did I say that? Trust a lawyer to twist things not said.

I mean that now his kids, who can hardly hide with the surname they have, have their father plastered all over the papers as a drug user and have to put up with that.
Your passion for him is compelling but sadly misplaced.

I read your post the same way as Ardross and wondered why you think his family are also to blame.

You read it wrong as well.
Cattermole did himself no favours today at Cheltenham either, Dodging Bullets crosses the line and that's boost for Frankie Dettori he says. Yes of course, drug taking, riding horses worth millions, potentially putting himself and others at risk of course he needs a boost, I mean he had a gun to his head when he took the drugs and had no choice?

This double act of Francome and McGrath really getting on my tits. I think they just act like prats now for the sake of acting like prats.

McGrath talking on the Snoring Line today mentioned forums and forum gossip regarding this issue.

Hold on Mr Mcgrath, before you slagg us all off, don't you see the boost people like us give the sport, the insight and often foresight you read on places like this is in no way detrimental to the sport.

I hate the way the guy only mentions forums when it suits his argument (usually always a negative one). Unlike many other aspects of the racing world we aren't all sitting with an employer to make contributions on here or have a retainer re- channel 4 like him.

The type of scum he implies writes on places like this actually support the racing industry and websites that promote the industry aswell. That is why management of these forums are probably run over with bookmakers wanting to advertise on them. That is why it has been known for heads of BHA etc to come and get their message across!!!

I am ******* riled this morning.

At least us forumites have some representation with the likes of Rory De Largy and other figures who do business with official racing media outlet.

Maybe someone could get Jim to cut to the chase and ask him with all his academic experience of working at Timeform what the actual true impact of forums is on the sport? I'm sure when he thinks about it and is not wanting to point score against the 'racing amateurs' he seems to despise he will say it is a good one!
