Betting for the Duty Free:

Dubai Duty Free
Blue Square:
13-2 Paco Boy, 7 Archipenko, Vodka, 8 Kip Deville, Presvis, 11 Balius, 12 Creachadoir, Jay Peg, 14 Bankable, 16 Russian Sage, 20 bar

Good to see Creachadoir back.

Anyone think Paco boy will stay? If you do, he looks an awfully big price.

Sheema Classic: 5 Doctor Dino, 11-2 Youmzain, 6 Purple Moon, 8 Lady Marian, 10 King Of Rome, Kirklees, 12 Eastern Anthem, Front House, Marsh Side, Quijano, 14 Macarthur, The Bogberry, 20 bar
Golden Shaheen: 2 Marchand D'Or, 7-2 Indian Blessing, 5 Diabolical, 11-2 Big City Man, 10 Black Seventeen, 12 Duff, Machismo, 14 bar

I'd be happy to take on Paco Boy with either Archipenko or Vodka.

Youmzain obviously looks the best horse in the Sheema, but he's had two good shots at this race and hasn't quite managed to win it for whatever reason. Very little between Doctor Dino and Purple Moon on Hong Kong form, and I wonder if the latter's prep might give him a bit of an advantage here.

Marchand D'Or looks easy to oppose in the sprint with plenty of decent proper dirt runners about. Little bit of a lottery though.

Between Diabolical, Indian Blessing and Big City Man for me in the Spring. BCM's been on the go for a while, Diabolical ran well in the prep for this as he did last year (but bombed in this race 12 months ago) and no idea how IB will handle a straight 6f.

Looking forward to sitting down and watching this tommorrow night. Tough to work out the form given I haven't followed the Carnival particularly closely and the international form (particularly the Australian form).

I was very impressed with Lady Marian in the L'Opera last year - looked a real class act that day, and she looks a big enough price at 12's. Trip might be on the sharp side but likely fast pace and the rain would be in her favour. The obvious danger would be Archipenko for me.

Archipenko is a cracking bet in this. He has decent course form and ran well (giving weight) last month.

EDIT: Just looked at the place market and found someone offering 7.2 on Lady Marian placing. Unreal.

25/1 about Macarthur seems excessive. He`s had a couple of ropey runs since transferring from AOB but on his best form he`d be right there if Youmzain disappointed again (every chance if there isn`t a fast pace)

Indian Blessing is now a strong 7/4 fav in the Golden Shaheen. She has a very impressive career record (never out of the first two) but this will be all very new for her - no bend, up against the boys, and a long way from home. I'd love to see Marchand d'Or win it because I think he's a real champ and hasn't got much credit for what he's done. The dirt is too much of an unknown, though, and I don't think he'll like being drawn in the middle of the pack. Big City Man (7/1) might be the one to spring an upset; he loves the track and should be fit as a flea. Look out for his form getting a boost if Gayego does the business in the Godolphin Mile (he's 100/30).

Given Mike de Kock's record here, its no surprise that Archipenko (5/1) has taken over as favourite from Paco Boy in the Duty Free. He was unlucky in this last year, has been consistent as hell in the last 12 months and de Kock seems very happy with him. Last year's winner Jay Peg is no back number though and 16/1 looks a little big for him - especially considering he ran very nicely in his prep for this (perhaps everyone was too busy watching Vodka get boxed in to notice). It's good to see the Opera winner Lady Marian in this for Godolphin too. They reckon she'll need the run - do any of our German contingent have a view?

Youmzain will likely be attempting to come past a lot of horses in a small space whilst out the back of a slowly-run race, so I think he has to be taken on in the Sheema Classic. Cumani's concerns about the likely pace have put me off Purple Moon, which leaves me back with Doctor Dino almost by default. Not a bad default though; he's consistent, runs his race anywhere and has performed well in slowly-run races before.

The World Cup looks very open, much more so than usual. Is Albertus Maximus anything special? Is Asiatic Boy anything more than a course specialist waiting for a quality field to put him in his place? Has Casino Drive done enough on the track to warrant a price of 9/2? I really have no strong opinion on this race but I'm a sucker for Blush With Pride's family so I'll be joining Japan in cheering on Casino Drive.

De Kock's filly Front House is interesting in the Sheema. Was impressed with her last run, which De Kock thinks she will come on for. 9's looks a fair enough price with Blue Square. Would I be correct in thinking she would be the first Coolmore winner should she do the business tommorrow?

I maintain Archipenko has a big race in him (well, actually he's already won one in Hong Kong) and the Duty Free looks as if it should suit him down to the ground. That said, he's hardly any value at current odds.

I'm with Archipenko and Asiatic Boy, but I've been too busy trying to work out a Donny PP to study the card in depth so should really just watch and enjoy!

Youmzain is much the best horse but R Hills and the prospects of no gallop put me off - rain will help though .

Paco Boy surely wins IF he stays - which he probably won't !

The DWC is as dull as ditch .

By the way - is Meydan going to have a dirt track or go with Polytrack or the like?

Definitely not dirt...some kind of polytrack/synthetic surface.

I think my old friend Archipenko is a good thing.

In the 1.40 anyone think Green Coast is a tad overpriced at 33/1? he got to within 3 engths of Honour Devil who was drawn 1 compared to Green Coast drawn 16.

In the big one I am going to back some of the American outsiders win and place.Anak Nakal could sneak a place at massive odds.

Will Two Steps Salsa go back to America or any chance he could come to Europe?

2 races and Godolphin have had the first two home in each race.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Doubt they'll bring him to Europe tbh Gal - there's a $500k race for him at Belmont at the end of May (Metropolitan Handicap).

Good stuff all those on Big City Man - Jerry Barton's having a storming carnival. Two big priced horses coming up later on in Deem and Joe Louis (first run outside South Am) for him, the latter might be worth a couple of quid each way.
