Dubai

I've gone against Darjina in the Duty Free, taking a chance with Admire Aura who's got solid form and should be fit.

In the Sheema Classic, I've plumped for Sun Classique who again is fit and in form. I can't see de Kock going without a winner today and this may be the one.

Have found it very trapping punting on DWC night the last few years due to the amount of obviously top class international horses, particularly the De Kock horses and the Japanese. Very hard to get a handle on them for me.

I would be more worried of Finsceal Beo not staying the trip in the Duty Free than Darjina. Very much a specialist miler IMO. Hope she runs well though.

Outside of Curlin, the World Cup itself looks fairly weak. Jalil has progressed well at Nad Al Sheba and is probably still just coming to himself really, but he doesn't have the turn of foot to anyway trouble Curlin. Not really a big fan of his action either.

In the Sheema Classic I fancy Doctor Dino but he is disadvantaged by his double fig draw

I've just had a quick look at previous Sheema Classic results and double figure draws seem to have done ok. Heart's cry (from the front), Phoenix Reach (towards the rear) and Sulamani (from somewhere in Kuwait) have all won from double-figure draws in the last 5 runnings. That said, 15 of 16 is a pretty extreme draw...

Interesting that C4 Racing are covering the DWC for the first time since Cigar won it.

Nowt to do with their new sponsors I'm sure!

The distance is advertised as 1M194yards. That`s nearer 10f than 9 so Darjina and Creachadoir are both pretty short. I`ve gone with FB win and place and Admire Aura also.

Thought Strike The Deal did really well against those two South Africian horses but just looked not to get home over the trip. Very hard for the Northern Hemisphere 3 year olds old's against their Southern Hemisphere counter parts at this time of the year.

I was on for bits and pieces over 3/1 for the place - the camera angle meant that I didn't realise he had been pipped until they crossed the line.

Changed hands for 480,000 guineas in the winter. Nice.

26 yards, or c.23 metres, short of 9f. Looks like they made a minor surveying error when building the track!

I could be wrong, but I think they built the place without a turf track originally so didn't have much flexibility.

Either way, it'll be a moot point after next year!

Picked the winner of the Derby but due to Firefox problems [I just upgraded to the new version, fine now!] I didn't get my bet on :(

The horse is better than a handicapper, he was given a great ride from the front, and the way he rallied suggests he's a right tough bugger too.
