Female Trainers - on the up?

Trefflich - if your real reason for posing your question about 'agreeing' with women training horses was to stir up debate, then you shouldn't be unhappy that you got a response, should you? I'm not sure that 'debate' equals 'bickering' - I asked you why you posed it, and you've answered why. It is so not a big deal.

IS: do you know what the two Irish ladies do? Are they NH specialists, and do you know anything about their backgrounds?

Another win for Venetia today, I see - back on song after the inevitable quiet period which all trainers seem to have to suffer at some point.

Both train jumpers Kri - Clodagh Beegan had a couple of point-to-point winners last year and is based in Balinasloe, Galway whilst Sinead O'Sullivan trainers jumpers from her yard in Cork.

Aside from telling you that Miss Beegan is very pretty there's not a lot else I can add to that

Just seen Prunella Dobbs interviewed on ATR. She came across as an extremely pleasant lady.

She would be a minimum three-pinter for me, though.

Liz Doyle has produced and sold both Al Ferof and Cheltenian in the last year or two. Neither would be straightforward to get right

Great to see Hen back to Grade 1 level with SOMERSBY today - and a glimpse of El Tel standing in the parade ring. I imagine the loss of Jim Lewis's support hurt the yard pretty badly, and then Terry's stroke couldn't have helped to keep her eye totally on the ball.

It's not going to work, children. But to show you how it won't work, you're both getting your own dinners this week and, as for the laundry... oh, dear. Looks like all your shirts are missing one sleeve - how could that happen?

Seriously, aren't there any female trainers in Germany,

Elke Mader has brought hurdlers over here in the past, most notably the entire Halle Bopp, who won a Folkestone contest about a decade ago. She was also the original trainer of Lysander, who was subsequently a mainstay of the Ian Williams string before being bought as a Pointer a few months ago.

Frau Mader has not had a runner over here since April 2010, though, when the wonderfully named Zuckerpuppe (translates as "Sugar Puppet") placed in a Plumpton contest.

Trefflich - no, I honestly won't get on your case (again!)! That's a pretty unusual turn-up for female trainers to knock them in like that at one meeting. There may well be something about two of the quirkier NH courses (or more likely two of the more tricky country courses) being close together in the southeast, and quite a lot of women training down this way nowadays, so the chances of them winning more often round here is more likely than when they've travelled afield (horses less tired from journeys, etc.). But whatever it is, well done to them!
