Festival Trials Day Cheltenham Sat June 30

If you are coming racing Saturday, Racecourse warning quite a bit of rain expected this week and car parks will be wet and muddy, they suggest using public transport if you can.

I think Trials day is my favourite single day of racing. It's informative, not too crowded and really sets the blood running for the Festival.

I've been with the family for several of the last few years and it's a great day out. The festival is far too crowded and full of p***heads for the ladies

I'm going to try to get to the Trials meeting next year, but it's a little too close to the ICH meeting for comfort. The latter is developing into a bit of an annual pilgrimage, and I'm only ever in possession of the hoose troozers for brief moments in time.

Heading down with father and brother. Old man pushing 80 but still loves to put the hip flask through its paces and set fire to a few bob every now and then.

My youngest lad's coming with us to Aintree Thursday this year on a free kid's ticket. Only 17 but takes a proper interest.

Is this what business people would call succession planning?

Great post Ivan; what racing is all about.

With a pal last Friday; our fathers were life long buddies; who recalled a Sunday when they went to a point to point in Carrigtwohill near Cork city only to find out it was abandoned. So they went on to Askeaton p2p North West Co limerick instead, about 70 miles from Carrigtwohill.
P.S. Hip flasks are one of the great means to meet new people when racing ! Never leave home without it .

I already like your old man, Ivan.

Shame you're not coming along.

I could have introduced you and watched you drift into a coma while he gave you the unabridged director's cut of 'the day I backed Secreto in the Derby'.

Born liar. At least I know where I get it from.

Kilcooley not in either which is a shame.

I've backed O'Failains Boy in the Argento. He shouldn't be longer for this than Smad Place and Many Clouds for all that those two have improved since he beat them both a couple of years back. Trip, ground and course are perfect for him and although Djakadam will probably win 8/1 is overs.

A gang of 20 of us heading over again this year - year 13 I think. I own an ear in Premier Bond so I hope he runs

Smad Place looks too big at 8/1 (Powers, SJ) in receipt of 4lbs in the Argento.

The stamina test at Cheltenham will be right up his street, he wasn't entirely humiliated in the KG (where track and trip were never going to suit him), and his jumping could get a few of these into trouble. He is an each-way shot to nothing at the price, imo.

Agree completely - you couldn't kick him out of first 3, this trip and ground, yet he's the same price he is for the RyanAir.

Particularly with both those firms paying 3 places. Shame on most of the others only paying 2 with 11 in at this stage (suspect we'll end up with 6 or 7 though)

The cunts. All these concessions they offer, bullshit get 7/1 about Liverpool tonight against Stoke for new account holders and they offer these each way terms. Scandalous. The 8s I took about OFB was unfortunately with one of these firms so had to go win only.

Latest going just published

The going at Cheltenham remains Soft. There has been only two millimetres of rain since last week and conditions are forecast to remain largely dry up until Friday night into Saturday, when 13 to 14 millimetres of rain is predicted.
