Festival Trials Day Cheltenham Sat June 30

Sporting Life site at around 08.30:

Prospects: Simon Claisse doesn't sound so optimistic. The clerk of the course says: "We had double the amount of rain we were expecting and the track is heavy, waterlogged in places. The outlook remains dry, so we'll see where we are after another three hours. We couldn't race as we speak, so we need some improvement."

Not a day for punting I imagine.

The opposite surely unless fav backing is your game.

Yanworth has stamina to prove, Shantou Village whether or not he goes on deep ground. Nice angle right there.

And Djakadam has to be taken on at the odds given how much they won't want him to have a hard race. Another nice angle.

it will be interesting to see just how slow it is there..it can't be super heavy like it gets elsewhere wouldn't think. The main concern this morning seemed to be that even though the ground was raceable..they would have abandoned if it was deemed it would cut the track up too badly for March. So it might just be ordinary heavy ground..we'll see

Ruby on Racing UK there said he walked it & thought it'd be a lot worse. Omitting last fence definitely so they'll be racing 2f out.

It was. Galloped them all into submission. Just like the Hennessy.

Djakadam's fall doesn't exactly help Mullins and Ricci decide which way to go with Vautour. Gold Cup I'd imagine now though with Ruby riding.

Fit as she is Rebecca Curtis must go on the don't touch list for punting. Awful from OFB.

I would say any remaining element of doubt has been conclusively removed. Only a calamity in his prep will see Vautour swerve the Gold Cup.

Most likely, but you'd think they would want to get another run into Djakadam's, and where else do they go apart from Newbury?

There must be something else, but I can only think of handicaps and I can't imagine they'd want him giving lumps of weight away and having a tough race close to the Festival.
