At the Start
I know almost everyone on here is anticipating the Festival and will not be interested in the whippets that will be appearing at the end of next month but for the handful of us who are not totally enamoured with the jumpers here is something to look forward to.
First Season Sires 2018
Top first season can be calculated in a number of ways, most total earnings, most winning earnings and the one some bookmakers offer prices on is on the total number of races a stallion’s offspring wins.
Over the last three years the sire that has won the most races in a season has been one that has showed pace and class in his races on the track and a certain amount of precocity.
2015 ZOFFANY (Best RPR 120) a Group 1 winner and successful over 6,7 and 8 furlongs and won on his 2-y-o debut.
2016 SIR PRANCELOT (110) a Group 2 winning sprinter also won on his 2-y-o debut.
2017 SOCIETY ROCK (122) a Group 1 winning sprinter who didn’t win on debut but won his second 2-y-o race.
SIR PRANCEALOT the least classy of the three made up for that by having plenty of ammunition and finished well clear in his year’
