If I'm pissed off about something, can I start up my own forum too?

The arrival of another new forum on the scene is an embarassment to all involved. What's the point?! What is the point?!?!? A nonsense.

There's threads over there that are largely started and completed by the same person with no other contributions. Cringe

Amusingly old hat UG - after-timing as usual I note!

Why is it that other racing forums always cause such a frisson of fear among the well-established ones? To the point the name can't even be mentioned - something I seem to remember Col finding unacceptable several years ago when any mention of TH was removed on The Racing Forum....

The exception to the above is Ted's Shed, which has enough confidence in its own membership base to worry not one whit about a new forum on the block....
I think you will find only one forum isn't alowed to be mentioned on here, nothing to do with it being a racing forum but other factors. TRF, Teds and all others I have no problem with.

It's not fear at all, it is annoyance at the way things were done.

Bobbyjo, that really is the biggest load of drivel this side of anywhere.

If someone wishes to start a forum, that is entirely up to them.

Sure...but ain't it pretty pathetic to start up a forum because you can't be in charge of one you previously frequented?

The biggest load of drivel this side of anywhere is at the top of this page.

Thankfully, the only loss to the forum has been middle aged oestrogen. We can cope.

We seem to have lost SteveM as well which is a shame.

Yes, agreed, although arguably much more so for Flat enthusiasts...

His views on jump racing largely revolved around having a love for whatever horse just popped up out of France overnight

[if that doesn't get him back.....]

Agree with that and i did register with trf whilst it was quiet over here, but if i have an opinion on a certain topic i can`t be bothered typing it put two or three times. I`m also on Ted`s forum but that`s hardly the best place for racing discussion and not the reason i joined.

I've posted on TRF tons of times; had some great discussions over there. Absolutely nothing wrong with being a regular on more than one forum of the same subject and it's purely a personal matter where you draw the line and consider things to be getting a bit OTT.

I also post on TRF, occasionally on the American site thoroughbredchampions.

Three forums is plenty for me, more might seem nerdy.

im onn 3 racing ones now 9 admittedly I dont do much than read the racing bits though!!) and one for retired racehorse owners.

Im not intelligent enough to cope with any more - I already go  when Im online!!!

As far as I'm concerned it's got nothing to do with posting on more than one forum - it seems to me as though there is an over-riding desire by some to "be the best", be in control of what is being said and be surrounded by one's mates who will by and large agree with what you say.

I am a member here, on FF, on the Lonely Yummy Mummies Forum and of course the Colin Farrell Appreciation Forums. Enough is enough.

I have to admit that I personally found it strange that another forum has suddenly been created although perhaps on reflection not overly surprised.

I am more than happy with this place in it's current format and with it's current posters and Ted's place as well, which has always been a great place to visit on a regular basis.

Absolutely full credit to Gareth, Melendez and Galileo for keeping this place ticking over despite all the recent comings and goings. Well done, Lads!

You can count on me to continue to post absolute nonsense indefinitely on here.

Excellently summed up Shadow, but as others have said its up to everyone else what they want to do. Just bizzare to have 4 forums (TH,FF,TRF and now this one) virtually sharing similar members....I would have thought one of the three forum already around would have catered for most (certainly Ted’s who had been their refuge from here) but like I said its up to Ardross and Griffin at the end of the day. Good luck to them with it.

People reserve the right to come and go, to join or leave, or to set up their own forum.

We shouldn't forget why it all happened in the first place, though, and which contributors went out of their way to sabotage what was by far the best racing forum around.

Yes they do, but some do it with far more integrity than others.

and which contributors went out of their way to sabotage what was by far the best racing forum around.

Are they still members on here?

Does anyone actually think that the business of discussing horse racing is actually becoming incidental to the purpose of some of the forums?

I mean, is it just an excuse for people to have a forum and a bit of a chat. You know...as I said to someone yesterday....it's like people to join a golf club to be seen rather than to play the game. There's a bit of that going on here, I reckon.

I think we need a meta-forum. A forum for people to discuss forums. Job's a good 'un.

*runs off to register talkingforums.co.uk*

I must admit that during the falt season I conform to BJs description. I am like a pavilion member organising the odd charity darts match.

Yeah, i thought i hadn`t seen PDJ around here for a bit.

I won't post on here again while Gearoid is a member. To clarify, he stated he hopes my daughter chokes and dies. He was banned for a week then allowed back on after telling me he did intend to cause offense. Apparently that classes as an apology. Joining another forum is to do with comments like that. Also to clarify, the new forum is nothing to do with me.
