Galway

I thought Exact looked a little bit reluctant on his way to post for the 710.Anyone thinking it's a free bet ew could be in for a surprise.

1.3 is the place market. I backed the fav straight at 1.42. That wasn't even a race.

Drinking with Del Boy yesterday - just released from Hospital - head on me like a Bombay loan shark - can anybody put me off going all in Yellow Rosebud??? Had a decent rattle at Benash ew in the hurdle...

I'm against Silverhand in the first in the win and place markets on a lay to back basis.Has a decent engine but not a natural jumper in my opinion.

Money for Princeton Plains in the Galway Hurdle this morning and can see why.

5th in this last year on ground a bit on fast side for him, then wins next time out over same trip on soft.
3 sharpeners over shorter this year, with the last one showing that they've got him right for this.

NIce light weight and gold and green support usually worth following.

Rosebud gives 5lbs to Lady Wingshot and her official rating is 7lbs superior, giving her a theoretical advantage of only 2lbs. Then factor in that Wingshot is better drawn and would have improved her rating the last day with a clear run.

After and Gossamer Seed are also in with a shout on the raw figures.

She only becomes a foregone conclusion when you add the Weld-at-Galway allowance.

I'm with you on Lady Wingshot.

I can't figure the race out at all, but I wouldn't be getting stuck into Yellow Rosebud at 6/4. The ground is very much an unknown factor, the 2yo form looks very ropey at this stage, and I thought she very much got the run of the race (held up off an overly-strong pace) in the Leopardstown trial.

I'm not entirely sure Lady Wingshot will come up the hill. If pushed I would be looking towards Marvada or even Singing Bird at the prices.

Any thoughts on the ride that Mark Enright (5) gave the second Great Oak in the 2.25?

I lost count on the number of times he hit the horse and not just love-taps really vicious stuff.

Totally unacceptable.

Sportinglife tissue:

Forecast
Nurpur (6/4), Muaanid (15/8), King Of The Romans (5/1), Elleval (6/1), Fiftyshadesofred (16/1), Lirico (16/1), Typhoon Prince (25/1)

B@STARDS

Can't believe they upgraded this race to a Listed contest. Used to be a race you could hang your hat on...a 3yo filly won every year....much to my benefit.

Our Kanturk contingent are likely to be awol for a while, the whole area seem to be in the parade ring at Galway greeting Rebel Fitz.

Congratulations esp to trainer Ml Winters, probably the shrewdest and definitely the nicest, straightest and most honest trainer in Ireland.
He learned his trade from Mr Connie Vaughan, one of the best amateurs of his era(won the NH Challenge Cup Chel 1964 on Dorimont after being disqualified for 5 yrs for winning twice on a flapper Cottage Gem at Listowel 1958.
Ml came through the P to P scene, Greenfield Mary, Kanturk Champion and Kanturk Warrior his early stars.
Once he turned to race horse training all he needed was the goods; he can prepare, place, feed and keep horses consistent with the very best on average but improving facilities. He is a laugh a minute man while working hard all the hours God gives. He deserves this more than anyone. Duhallow Abu.

Well said. I'm currently investigating which of the Ladbrokes trading team left Tony Winters on!

No idea why he wouldn't be qualified CL :(

16:10 Captain Luke - This horse is no 33/1 shot which is what SJ have him in at, makes his handicap debut here after some eyecatching runs over this trip (two starts back) and LTO over shorter, he's a local runner with a young conditional (who usually rides him) on board, acts well on soft ground and should go well at a huge price IMO.

Captain Luke was only 5th of the 19 the other day at 3m, dropped in grade today and also in trip. Money for him too and has Robbie McNamara booked, if I was wrong about the trip then 14/1 could be very big in this QR Handicap Hurdle.

She worked terrible yesterday so I'm cooler on her chances than I was during the week. I've backed her at 6/4 but not as heavy as I was going too. There was a few quid for Mernane's this morning and O'Briens in the last hour (who was unbelievably dead in the morning market). The O'Brien move might just be that word had circulated on track about her poor gallop yesterday but she could still have the beating of this bunch.

A horse that has worked very well, with Tursdays winner Vastonea no less, is KP's Bonobo. Runs in the 5.25 today and the only concern is the trip. I'd expect it to be swinging off the bridle at the bottom of the hill. If it stays it wins. I've backed it heavy win only at 9/1.
